Lionesses hero Mary Earps has dropped bombshell claims about the real reason behind her dramatic England exit — accusing Sarina Wiegman of rewarding “bad behaviour” and showing favouritism towards rival goalkeeper Hannah Hampton.
The 32-year-old PSG star revealed in her upcoming autobiography All In that she told Wiegman directly, “Bad behaviour is being rewarded,” after Hampton was reinstated into the national squad despite past disciplinary concerns.

Earps had been England’s undisputed No.1 during Euro 2022 and the 2023 World Cup, but just five weeks before the 2025 Euros, she stepped away from the team when Wiegman chose Hampton as first-choice goalkeeper.
In the book, Earps writes that Hampton’s poor attitude during the Euro 2022 campaign “frequently risked derailing training sessions and team morale,” calling the situation “extremely unusual for an elite, successful team.”

Hampton, 24, has since spoken publicly about the fallout, telling Elle magazine, “It was hard to find that fight in me to prove people wrong, but somehow I managed it. I had my friends and family to keep me going, and it’s worked out for the best.”
Earps also revealed that Wiegman had consulted her before recalling Hampton in 2023, explaining that “everyone deserves a second chance.” But when Hampton started a Euro 2025 qualifier against Ireland in April 2024, Earps was furious: “I don’t get it. It’s a qualifier match — and bad behaviour is being rewarded.”

By April 2025, Wiegman officially made Hampton her No.1, a decision that left Earps “extremely disappointed.” According to the memoir, she was told Hampton was “a little bit ahead” — prompting Earps to accuse Wiegman of not being “direct or honest” enough.
Earps admits she was stunned by Wiegman’s final explanation, writing bluntly, “That sounded like bulls*** to me.”
Her autobiography, set for release next week, offers a raw look at the tensions within the Lionesses during their dominant run — including back-to-back European Championship titles and a World Cup final appearance.
