In a social media post today, Lucy confirmed that she underwent laparoscopy surgery last week in an attempt to help better the effects of the condition.

Lucy confirmed she had initially put off having the surgery, which removes endometrial tissue, as she did not believe that her symptoms were as “bad” as other peoples.

She first revealed in 2024 that she often considered undergoing the surgery and said the decision kept her up “at night” but she has now proceeded with it.

Speaking online, the star said: “I’ve been in two minds whether I felt comfortable sharing.

“One of the anxieties I had about the surgery was not knowing how that day looked and going into it completely blind, I found that really intimidating.”

Lucy revealed some of her other symptoms included “fatigue, bloating, constipation and back pain”.

She has previously told how her diagnosis came as a surprise as she was not suffering some of the more common side effects which can cause crippling pain including period pains and fertility issues.

Following the surgery, Lucy told her followers: “I feel fragile, a little bit sore and tender and being careful with not picking anything up that’s heavy and just taking all my movements slow.”

In her social media post, Lucy went on to say how the condition had impacted her prior to the surgery.

She said: “I eat well, I exercise, I’ve tried to make changes to my lifestyle and yes it helps when  I don’t eat processed food, when I look after myself my symptoms are better and I have a slight relief but I’m at the point where I can’t physically live like that every single every moment of every day.

Lucy was first diagnosed with the condition in early 2024.

She revealed she still wasn’t sure if the surgery would prove successful or offer up any benefits but she told how her surgeon said he’d “found the endometriosis and where he removed it from is around the areas which were a problem for me. So that may improve it, it may not”.

Lucy is currently married to former Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas with whom she shares two children.

They have son Roman and daughter Lilah together.

Endometriosis is a chronic condition which occurs when tissue which is similar to the lining of the womb is found outside of the womb – in areas of the body including the ovaries, Fallopian tubes, the abdomen and the bladder.

The exact cause of the condition isn’t known, but it’s thought it could be hereditary or due to environmental factors – namely the presence of dioxins in the environment.

Meanwhile, other experts believe it could be caused by a process called retrograde menstruation, which is when the womb lining flows backwards through the Fallopian tubes into the abdomen, instead of leaving the body as a period.

Endometriosis can sometimes cause damage to the Fallopian tubes or ovaries, leading to fertility problems.

Other complications can include painful ovarian cysts and adhesions – areas of tissue which can fuse organs together.
