I’M A Celebrity star Angry Ginge’s best mates revealed the real reason behind his nickname as they spilled the beans on the streamer on ITV series Lorraine.

Heinz and Chazza, who are part of the I’m A Celeb campmate’s Bov Boys streaming collective, joined Scottish anchor Lorraine Kelly for a de-brief on the streamer’s first couple of days Down Under.

Angry Ginge, who broke a huge show rule before even entering camp, was seen bagging 10 stars in a gruesome eating challenge last night.

Yet while he issued a sweary rant and came close to vomiting multiple times after chowing down the likes of ox tongue and crocodile anus, his mates say he’s not at all like his moniker.

The YouTube and Twitch streaming sensation, who lived in a mouldy £350 a month flat before finding fame as well as enduring a tough childhood, got his name from his attitude while playing an iconic video game.

His pals told how they are “really proud” of him so far before Lorraine asked the pair on Tuesday’s episode: “Why is he called Angry?

“He’s not angry he’s delightful.”

Chazza then replied: “When he used to play FIFA [a video game franchise] he used to rage at the game.

“So I think that was one of the words he used to describe himself.”

He added of the Manchester United fan: “It’s passion and it’s dedication.

“He genuinely is one of the nicest guys you could ever meet.”

Heinz added: “I think that will surprise people in the jungle.

“Because obviously they’ll see his name then they’ll see him and be like ‘oh lads’.”

SPECIAL PERMISSION

Angry Ginge also showed his softer side when show bosses gave him special permission to break more show rules before entering camp.

The celebs have their phones confiscated as soon as they land in Australia. but Ginge was given special permission to call his mum Michelle on Friday for his birthday.

She told the Mirror: “Morgan (his real name) managed to ring me via the producer’s phone because he was allowed a quick phone call for his birthday, and he sounded absolutely buzzing.

“He told me he’s been watching SAS to get himself mentally ready for the jungle, which is so him.”

BOOKIES FAVE

The Salford lad, 23, is part of the iconic ITV series’ 2025 line-up, alongside fellow Manchester rapper Aitch and other famous faces including actresses Lisa Riley, 49, and Shona McGarty, 34.

While his mates reckon his character will impress his campmates, he’s been tipped to take the Jungle King crown after just two episodes.

Angry Ginge, whose real name is Morgan Burtwistle, is currently the bookies favourite for the show title.

Bookies William Hill has placed the online star as the clear favourite, with narrowed-down odds of 5/2.

William Hill spokesperson Lee Phelps previously told The Sun: “Having initially been a 9/2 shot with us, his odds have tumbled to 5/2 over the weekend, and he is now the outright favourite.”
