Based on real life events, it shows Keatonâs Emily striking up an unlikely bond with Gleesonâs Donald, despite the two leading very different lives. Sheâs based in an expensive apartment, while heâs in a makeshift cabin on land thatâs being targeted by real estate developers.
Norton plays Emilyâs son, while Manville can be seen as her self-serving neighbour.

The film was met with a muted reception from critics upon its original release and has a 43% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes â but thereâs plenty to love about it. The Wrap praised a âterrificâ Keaton, and The Standard called her a ârefreshing romantic leadâ.
Viewers have given it a respectable 6.1 score on IMDb, and Norton clearly looks back on it fondly.
Asked about his âmost memorable place to shootâ, he said in a 2020 interview with Time Out: âIn Hampstead, I had a scene in a sushi bar with Diane Keaton. I got to spend hours asking her everything youâd ever want to ask her about Woody Allen and The Godfather.â
