Countdown legend Carol Vorderman has hit out at the “disgraceful” Jimmy Bullard amid his row on I’m A Celebrity…South Africa, which saw him dramatically leave the camp
Carol Vorderman has hit out at the “disgraceful” Jimmy Bullard amid his row on I’m A Celebrity…South Africa. The former footballer refused to take part in a challenge when paired up with Emmerdale star Adam Thomas and subsequently left the camp, but his actions have caused much outrage.
Now, daytime legend Carol, who shot to fame on Countdown in the 1980s before going onto present Loose Women and other high-profile programmes, has spoken out on the matter, and can relate to the upset when she thinks back to her own jungle experience as a campmate herself in 2016.
Carol, who returned for the all-stars edition herself in 2023, said: “I am angry, furious, crying, furious again. It was disgraceful, because everyoneâs tired, you know, youâve been there, Iâve been there twice, youâre knackered by the end.
âAnd everyoneâs feeling a bit like âoh God how many more days?â but if he wanted to go, he should have said it in camp. He took Adam down and then he just stood there, Jimmy just stood there, and Iâm not surprised Adam blew. Itâs when Jimmy said âstop being patheticââ, what?â
The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant made an appearance on the I’m A Celebrity…Unpacked podcast, where she was joined by Perrie Sian, who said: “Look, itâs not the easiest thing to make that decision, but to decide to do it in such a way where it affects someone else âI do not think truly that he overreacted in that way. I would have been so upset.â
Carol replied: “But even more than that. He didnât say, ‘Oh Adam you gentleman, you overreactedâ, he said âYouâre being patheticâ. I couldnât get over that. Terrible.”
It comes as Jimmy has seemingly confirmed he will attend the live final this Friday after reports suggested he didn’t want to attend the event, which will see all the campmates reunite.
Writing on Instagram, alongside a clip of Sinitta claiming the C-word was shouted, he shared: “Wow thanks @thesinittaofficial shame that wasnât shown! My version will be told Friday! Canât wait to see you allâŠ.well some of yous!!”
Sinitta explained: “There was a big argument, I can hear c-word, c-word, shouting c-word, you c-word. What on earth is going on? And I’m also thinking – can we get on with the race because I’m winning?
“I’m literally frozen in position like ready to carry on from where we’ve left off, but no. And it’s this massive fight and, of course, it was one of these things that if whoever lost the game, the team were off the show so Adam and Jimmy are going and I suddenly think, wait a minute this isn’t fair.”
Jimmy left the show and Adam was allowed to stay after hosts Ant and Dec conferred with the remaining six campmates about the whole thing, and Waterloo Road star Adam later addressed the row, saying on social media that he was worried how it would be perceived.
He said: “For months, I didnât know how any of this would be perceived. Even though I stood by every decision I made, there was always that little voice wondering how it would be shown, how it would be edited, how people would see me.
“And that uncertainty wasnât easy to carry. But now, reading your messages, seeing your comments, feeling your support, itâs given me something I canât even put into words. Itâs brought me peace. Itâs reminded me that staying true to myself was always enough.”
