Who dies on Coronation Street? Clues ‘let slip’ victim and killer ahead of major week

Coronation Street is heading for a dramatic week of murder amid a time of love and marriage and upcoming episodes will see one of five villains killed off in shocking scenes

Coronation Street is heading for a dramatic week of murder amid a time of love and marriage. Last week, viewers of the world’s longest-running TV soap saw Carla Connor (Alison King) and Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers), known to fans as Swarla, finally tie the knot after a rocky few months.

But as celebrations rang out and the happy couple, along with the Underworld factory employees and other Weatherfield residents, partied the night away, a scream was heard somewhere in the distance. Thanks to a flashforward that was broadcast earlier this year, viewers will know that one of five antagonists is at risk of being killed off.

Either Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances Brown) Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard), Theo Silverton (James Cartwright), Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon), or Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn) will be leaving Weatherfield in a box, and all the drama will unfold in yet more non-linear episodes that will explore each character’s point-of-view until the big reveal. Here, The Mirror takes a look at each potential victims and just who might be after them.

Coronation Street boss Kate Brooks said of the big week: “We had five potential suspects had to make sure all the stories aligned, made sense and they were all getting to the right place and coming together. In the build-up it’s gearing up and the momentum is really strong, it could be any of them

“Then we’ve also got the who did it, that big story as well going forward as well as unpacking what’s going on with all those other characters. Very complex, but satisfying and enjoyable as well.”

Maggie Driscoll

Irish matriarch Maggie, played by Father Ted star Pauline McLynn, has certainly ruffled a few feathers since she arrived in Weatherfield towards the end of last year to take over the famed Rovers Return pub. A short time after her debut it was revealed via a flashback that she was responsible for killing her husband Alan many years ago.

It’s also been revealed that she carried out an affair with Jim McDonald (Charlie Lawson), meaning that her son Ben is the long-lost brother of Steve McDonald. Her estranged daughter-in-law Melanie (Cindy Humphrey) recently arrived on the cobbles and implied she was the only one who knew about her dark past. Could Maggie be about to meet her maker for the crime she committed several decades ago?

Jodie Ramsey

Jodie, played by Olivia Frances Brown, turned up as the sister of established character Shona Platt (Julia Goulding), whom she had never mentioned before, in the soap’s crossover with Emmerdale. Whilst getting her feet under the table at number eight, Jodie has been exhibiting bizarre behaviour like stealing random items that belong to neighbours and trying to pass herself off as niece Harper’s mum.

More has emerged about Jodie, who turned up in the back of a van driven by Emmerdale villain Graham Foster, in recent weeks and it emerged that she had a hard drive belonging to her former captors and two random men are wanting it back. Could this point to an early grave for Shona’s long-lost sister?

Theo Silverton

Theo, played by former Tracy Beaker star James Cartwright, has emerged as one of the soap’s most prominent villains in recent times after subjecting Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) to horrific forms of abuse during their relationship. His evil ways seem to know no bounds, and he gladly let Todd’s best friend Billy (Daniel Brocklebank) during the Corriedale crash earlier this year by refusing to help him before the minibus exploded.

He’s certainly stacked up the enemies since the truth came out about his relationship with Todd, and those such as Carl Webster, Sarah Platt, and Billy’s daughter Summer Spellman all out for revenge. Will this come to anything or will Theo manage to wriggle out of his wrongdoings once again?

Megan Walsh

Megan, played by newcomer Beth Nixon, has been at the heart of one of the most controversial storylines in recent history on Coronation Street, with the teacher carrying out an illicit relationship with teenager Will Driscoll. It’s been heavily implied that it all began long before he reached the age of consent and after the truth started to come out, Megan has been completely ostracised from the community, and has also been at the mercy of the Battersby sisters.

She’s certainly made an enemy out of Maggie, who thought nothing of going to the former teacher’s rundown flat to attack her recently, so could the Rovers landlady be about to strike again with her killer ways? Or, in another possible twist, could Megan turn killer herself and spell the end of Maggie?

Carl Webster

It’s been a dramatic time for bad boy Carl Webster, played by Jonathan Howard, since he arrived in April 2025 as the long-lost brother of Kevin. Having already had an ill-fated affair with Abi Webster (Sally Carman), who he thought at the time was his sister-in-law, Carl has made enemies Kevin, Abi, and, more recently, Theo, because he was the first to learn the truth about Billy’s death, which resulted in Theo threatening to kill him if he ever breathed a word of it to anyone.

What’s more, yet another bombshell truth, it also emerged that Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) was his long-lost mum, not his sister as he had believed for 40 years, and he let her take the blame for him and sent her to prison when he was the one who was driving the car that caused the major incident in the Corriedale special.

Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
