BBC star confronts Amanda Holden after she calls him her ‘unconventional crush’

Amanda Holden, judge on Britain’s Got Talent, complimented one of her celebrity crushes after his surprise appearance in the Heart Breakfast studio

Amanda Holden was left shocked on the Heart Radio Breakfast Show this week after revealing her “unconventional” celebrity crushes. The 55-year-old and her co-host Jamie Theakston were discussing the subject live on air, encouraging listeners to share their own unusual attractions.

Disclosing her preferences, Amanda confessed she has a weakness for “follically challenged men”, especially those in the property sector. She proceeded to list several of her favourites, including Owen Wilson, Jack Nicholson, Thomas Sweeney, Peter Dinklage and Stephen Graham.

Amanda also revealed that she fancies Kevin McCloud, best known for Grand Designs – and, to her astonishment, he happened to be making his way to the studio.

Upon realising he had turned up, she exclaimed: “You are lying! Oh my god. How did you get him in?”.

Visibly thrilled, she hugged him and added: “Look how wonderful he dresses as well, he’s such a smart, snappy dresser.”

Responding to Amanda’s revelation, Kevin joked: “Look I know you call it unconventional and not weird, but I think it’s a bit weird.”

The Britain’s Got Talent judge replied: “It’s not weird, I’ve seen you on a bike as well, he’s very fit. I lost my mind, he cycled past me once on the streets of London.”

When pressed further about Amanda’s admission by Jamie, Kevin jokingly added: “I’ve been thinking about it on the way and I decided not to turn back. It’s a beautiful moment.” The humorous exchange came after Amanda shared a mortifying tale about a recent wardrobe mishap during a dog walk.

She told her fellow presenters: “I’ve got three dogs now as you know, so wrangling three dogs on your own is a thing. And so I didn’t have a bag and I had my doggy poo bag container and a ball I also needed to find space for and my phone.

“So, I put that in my pocket, but on the zipper of my top, I attached the poo bag with a clip and my car keys because I thought, ‘Right, that’s there so I’ve got hands free to play with the dogs and pick up poo and do anything else I need to do’.”

After “frolicking around” and playing fetch with her dogs, Amanda said she noticed it felt “a bit draughty”.

“And I look down and the weight of the dog poo bag and my car keys had unzipped me all the way and it was completely [open],” she continued.

“[I was] then trying to do myself up before this sweet old couple with their poodle came. You know when you’re going, ‘Oh my god’, they probably think I’m flashing them,” she laughed.

Britain’s Got Talent continues tonight at 7pm on ITV and ITVX. Listen to Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden weekdays from 06:30 – 10:00 across the UK and on Global Player.
