I’m A Celeb’s David Haye says he plans to sue ITV for £10m in explosive video

David Haye has released a statement revealing his plans to sue ITV for over £10million with claims he has some surprises “up his sleeve”.

David Haye has issued a statement following his appearance on ITV’s I’m A Celebrity in South Africa, after claims he was set to sue the broadcaster claiming he was edited in an unflattering way.

It was reported last week that the boxer had instructed a legal team to sue ITV for up to £10million after claiming I’m A Celebrity caused “irreparable damage” to his brand following his feuds in the jungle. The 45-year-old came under fire after making a string of controversial comments while appearing on the show and butting heads and becoming embroiled in a bullying row with fellow campmate Adam Thomas.

He said he “looks forward” to suing them for over “£10million” adding that he has a secret “up his sleeve”. Speaking in an Instagram video he said: “I don’t like getting pushed around. I don’t like people taking advantage.

“You know, I’ve had stuff happen in the past. I’ve let certain stuff go. But as I’ve got older, I’m like, Nah, you’re taking the p**s. I’m going to take it as far as it needs to go.”

He claimed that the show was “heavily directed” and “manipulated” and felt certain that a judge would side with him in his civil case. “Once the tapes have been viewed, once the evidence has been presented, and once they see what the public sees, they’ll realise that maybe this, this reality TV, might not be that real, maybe manipulated, heavily directed in a certain narrative for a specific reason. And I’m looking forward to a judge seeing exactly what went down so they can make their decision,” he said.

He added that the sum he hoped to sue the broadcaster would be more than £10million: “There’s lots of different elements that I can’t talk about, but yeah, in regards to how much this claim is going to be, I’m hearing this 10 million number banded around. I don’t know where that came from, because the number I’m going to hit him with is way more than that. Trust me, so exciting times.”

Despite his long career in boxing, he claimed that this was set to be one of his “biggest battles”. He said in the almost six minute long video: “I”m ready for this battle, it’ll be one of the biggest battles I’ve ever had. But I’m enjoying the process. I’m excited.”

He added that the he wanted to show the “negative repercussions of editing it the way they edited it” adding that it had a “detrimental effect” on him and “I’m not too happy about it. Not too happy at all.”

While in South Africa, David told his campmates about his girlfriend Sian, who works as a model, he said: “She’s like tall, blue eyes. She’s lovely. She’s got the personality of a proper ugly bird.” He added that “ugly girls” need to have “a personality and banter,” to overlook “the fact that they’re not aesthetically amazing”.

During one scene, he also branded co-star and series winner Adam Thomas “useless” after the Waterloo Road actor explained he wasn’t well enough to take part in a trial. Adam battles psoriatic arthritis, which causes joint inflammation and stiffness. When this was explained, Haye stated he didn’t “give a s**t”.
