Bonnie Tyler has been put in an “induced coma” after deteriorating following surgery. The singer, 74, best known for hits like Holding Out For A Hero and Total Eclipse of the Heart, took ill in Portugal and was initially said to be stable and recovering well.
But in the latest update, the star – who is due to tour Europe later this year – is now said to have taken a turn for the worse and is currently at the Faro Hospital where she is unconscious and breathing with the use of a ventilator.
A spokesperson for the singer said in a statement: “Bonnie has been put into an induced coma by her doctors to aid her recovery. We know that you all wish her well and ask for privacy at this difficult time please. We will issue a further statement when we are able to,”
Earlier this week, a spokesman for the singer explained that Bonnie was “recuperating well” and a quick recovery appeared to be on the cards.
