Local election results from across England are beginning to roll in – with Nigel Farage already declaring that “left-right politics” has come to a screeching halt.
Reform UK has picked up hundreds of seats so far, with Labour support collapsing across its traditional Red Wall heartlands.
“I think what you’re witnessing is an historic change in British politics. Forget left-right, there is no more left-right. It is gone, it is out of the window, it’s finished,” Mr Farage said.
“As you can see, we are scoring stunning percentages in traditional old Labour areas.”
The PM is already facing calls from inside his own party to stand down, with Ed Miliband said to have called on him to set out a timeline for his departure.
Meanwhile, Labour veteran Barry Gardiner and Hartlepool MP Jonathan Brash have both publicly called for Sir Keir Starmer to step down, while fury is mounting in Wales – with Labour expected to lose its 99-year grip on power.
