Peter Andre has admitted that “problems” can arise when teenage children get partners. The Mysterious Girl singer, 53, is father to Junior, 20, and 18-year-old ex-wife Katie Price.

The star is now married to Emily MacDonagh and has Millie, 12, Theo, nine as well as two-year-old Belle with her, and was struck when actress Hannah Waddingham spoke out about motherhood in an interview with Women’s Health.

The West End star, also known for her TV roles in Benidorm, Game of Thrones and Ted Lasso, said that when it comes to her own daughter Kitty, who is about to turn 12, she wants to communicate with her now more than ever as she heads closer to her teenage years.

Writing in his new magazine column, he said: “Hannah Waddingham has spoken of how important it is that she and her teenage daughter communicate, now more than ever – but doesn’t want other parents to think she’s got it all sorted.

“I’ve found with my teenage kids, it’s thankfully been quite good. They were good children and very respectful. But for me, with teenagers, the problem comes when they get partners.

“You always want to like them because, if you don’t, you can push them away. Also, I understand what Hannah is saying about people making assumptions.

“We’re all still human, everyone has parenting issues. Some have said, ‘Yeah, but they’ve got help.’ Whether they’ve got a nanny or not, the fundamental parenting is still down to the parents.”

But when it comes to the topic of partners, Peter recently spoke out after his eldest decided to move in with partner Jasmine.

He said: “”I have the hope that one of our children may have children, and we’ll do it all again, as grandparents! Yes, it’s sad but I also love seeing them growing up.

“But Emily worries about this a lot as well. Junior’s moved in with his girlfriend but Princess certainly hasn’t flown the nest yet! She loves knowing she’ll be cooked for – every afternoon I get the text asking what’s for dinner!”
