BRIGHTON BEACH TRAGEDY LEAVES BRITAIN IN SHOCK

Three Sisters From Uxbridge Found Dead In Sea Off Brighton Beach

A heartbreaking tragedy has shaken Brighton and beyond after three sisters from Uxbridge, London, were found dead in the sea off Brighton beach.

The women, named as Jane, Christina and Becky, were recovered from the water near Madeira Drive after emergency services were called at around 5:45am on Wednesday, May 13, following concerns for a woman’s welfare.

Sussex Police have launched a major investigation to understand exactly what happened. At this stage, officers say there is no evidence to suggest criminal activity, but specialist detectives are continuing to examine every possible detail.

Their father, Joseph, shared a deeply emotional tribute, saying no words could describe the pain of losing three daughters in the prime of their lives. He described Jane as strong and loving, Christina as kind with a beautiful heart, and Becky as warm, joyful and full of light.

Local residents fear the sisters may have been swept away after entering the water and falling from a coastal shelf into deeper sea. Witnesses described rough conditions, with waves crashing against the marina wall as police, coastguard teams, lifeboats and helicopters responded.

Investigators are now reviewing hundreds of hours of CCTV, speaking to local businesses and residents, and working with partners in Brighton and London to trace the sisters’ final movements.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw the sisters near Madeira Drive between 10pm on Tuesday, May 12, and 5:30am on Wednesday, May 13, to come forward.

Floral tributes have since been left near the beach, as the Brighton community mourns a loss that has left many in shock.

Chief Superintendent Adam Hays said the thoughts of everyone at Sussex Police are with the family, adding that officers will “leave no stone unturned” in their efforts to understand what led to the tragic events.

As the investigation continues, the deaths of Jane, Christina and Becky remain a devastating reminder of how dangerous the sea can be, even in familiar coastal places. Their family now waits for answers, while holding on to the memories of three daughters whose love, their father said, “never dies.”

My view:
This is one of those tragedies that feels almost impossible to process because it involves not one life, but three sisters from the same family.
For British readers, the Brighton setting makes it even more haunting, turning a familiar seaside place into the scene of an unimaginable loss.
