Helen Skelton Finally Addresses Gethin Jones Romance Rumours
Rumours have been swirling for months that Helen Skelton and Gethin Jones may be more than just colleagues — but Helen has now made her position very clear.
The Morning Live co-stars sparked romance speculation last year after they were pictured looking cosy together at the Pride of Britain Awards. Since then, fans have continued to wonder whether their close friendship had quietly turned into something more.
Helen, who split from her husband Richie Myler in 2022, shares three children with the rugby league star. Gethin, meanwhile, recently appeared to suggest he was single during an appearance on Morning Live.
But when Helen was asked by The Mirror whether she and Gethin had been on any romantic dates recently, she quickly shut down the rumours.
“No. Well, he’s in Manchester working away, so yeah, no, all good,” she said.
Helen then made it even clearer, adding: “We just work together, we are not together. No, no, no. We are just work friends. They printed pictures of us at work and that we’re together because we are at work together.”
The presenter was also asked whether she would ever consider marrying again. Helen admitted it was not something she had really thought about.
“It’s not something I’ve thought about really. I don’t know — I just take each day as it comes. I know that’s boring but…,” she said.
Helen and Gethin’s friendship has long been clear to viewers. Last year, the pair teamed up for Gethin and Helen’s Wheely Big Challenge, a 24-hour roller-skating challenge for Comic Relief.
At the time, Gethin described Helen as one of his best friends and admitted he had worried the challenge might put their friendship under pressure.
“What’s different this time is that we have each other. We’re best friends. We’re very honest with one another,” he said.
Helen has also spoken warmly about her bond with Gethin and the wider Morning Live team. She said she feels lucky to work with people who feel like an extension of her family.
“I’ve done this job for a long time and I feel very lucky that every now and again you land on a group of people and a crew that really clicks,” she told HELLO.
She added that she, Michelle Ackerley and Gethin had been friends for years, with Helen and Gethin sharing a long connection through Blue Peter.
“If you have to go to work and you like what you do and you do it with people that are like an extension of your family, then you’re very lucky and I definitely feel like that at Morning Live,” Helen said.
For now, Helen insists there is no secret romance. She and Gethin are simply close friends, trusted colleagues and familiar faces in the Morning Live family.
My view:
This seems like a typical situation where viewers confuse natural chemistry with romance, particularly when two well-liked TV personalities genuinely have a strong connection.
Helen’s response was composed, straightforward, and distinctly British — avoiding drama while firmly pointing out that friendship does not necessarily equal a romantic relationship.
