“EVERY ACHIEVEMENT IN MY LIFE STILL LEADS ME BACK TO MY SON…” With tears in her eyes, Mary Berry delivered one of the most heartbreaking moments of her life while accepting her BAFTA Fellowship at 91 — pausing the celebration to speak about her late son William, whom she lost 37 years ago. “William is in heaven… but I thank him,” she said softly, her voice filled with emotion as the room fell completely silent. After six extraordinary decades of success, fame and admiration, it was not television, awards, or career milestones that mattered most in that moment — it was the pain of a mother whose love for her child never disappeared with time. For many watching, the tribute felt almost unbearable in its honesty: a reminder that even after nearly four decades, some heartbreaks are never healed… they are simply carried forever.

In a tear-jerking moment at the 2026 BAFTA TV Awards, Dame Mary Berry, 91, honored her late son William while receiving the prestigious BAFTA Fellowship, celebrating her six-decade career in television.
