Netflix has unveiled its first trailer for an upcoming film that romantic comedy fans wonât want to miss, but be warned it features a rather devastating twist.
Subscribers are declaring the rom-com genre is officially back after witnessing the first-look at the new film, arriving to screens on Friday, 19th June.
Voicemails for Isabelle stars two rom-com icons, Zoey Deutch (Set It Up) and Nick Robinson (Love, Simon), as two strangers who become linked by a tragic loss.

After Jillâs (played by Deutch) sister Isabelle (Ciara Bravo) dies, she begins leaving her voicemails about her life in San Francisco, including her various dating mishaps and working as a chef under the thumb of her tyrannical boss, Chef Bastien (Nick Offerman).

However, Jill is completely unaware that her sisterâs phone has actually been reassigned to stranger Wes (Robinson), an estate agent based in Austin who begins to feel conflicted over whether or not to make himself known.
The trailer released this week teases an epic yet complicated romance that promises to sweep viewers off their feet as Jill and Wes eventually meet and become friends while struggling to come to terms with their growing feelings for each other.
While Wesâs friend Andy (Harry Shum Jr.) describes the premise as a âsick reboot of Youâve Got Mailâ, the trailer has already amassed hundreds of thousands of views from fans who are convinced they might have glimpsed the rom-com of the year.
One X user exclaimed: âI canât explain how sat I am, this is clearly a new classic for those with eyes to see.â
âWith this and Finding Emily on the horizon, it feels like fun rom-coms are back on the menu this summer,â someone else agreed.

Along with the two leads, Voicemails for Isabelle also stars Lukas Gage (The White Lotus), Spencer Lord (The Last of Us), Tanis Dolman (Fire Country), and Gil Bellows (Chucky).
It was written and directed by actress and filmmaker Leah McKendrick, who made her directorial debut with the 2023 film Scrambled starring Saturday Night Liveâs Ego Nwodim.
