TELLY’S Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford’s estimated £10million divorce battle is heading for a court showdown later this year.
The Sun on Sunday can reveal the warring pair’s case has already had two hearings last June and in February — with a trial set for November.
The pair, who are both 66 and split two years ago, have now hired top lawyers to fight it out after failing to agree a financial settlement over their combined wealth.
A source said Ruth launched court action for a so-called “financial remedy” hearing after negotiations broke down.
The case is now listed as Ruth Holmes vs Eamonn Holmes.
Court documents list Ruth as the applicant and former This Morning co-host, Eamonn, as the respondent.
A pre-trial review is due to take place in months.
The details of the proceedings between the estranged couple, who have a 24-year-old son, are not publicly known.
But, based on publicly available information about their careers and assets, issues at trial could include a personal fortune of around £5million as well as the marital home in Weybridge Surrey, that they bought 12 years ago for £3.6million.
The six-bedroom pile is now likely worth considerably more.
The Sun on Sunday reported in May last year Ruth wanted to keep the house in the settlement.
The source said: “A lengthy court battle is the last thing the couple wanted, but they just can’t agree.
“It’s very sad but they are both prepared to fight for what they feel is rightfully theirs.”
GB News host Eamonn, who has suffered a series of health setbacks in recent years, was rushed to hospital in April after a stroke but is now on the road to recovery.
Last year, Loose Women star Ruth was granted a “severance of joint tenancy” over the property.
The move, revealed in public documents, meant that if Ruth were to die her share of the house would not go to Eamonn, who is now with counsellor Katie Alexander, 44.
Eamonn has hired top barrister Deborah Bangay KC to fight his corner.
In 2004 Ms Bangay achieved a ground-breaking settlement for former Arsenal and England footballer Ray Parlour’s wife Karen which saw her awarded 37 per cent of his future earnings.
Ruth’s barrister, who works at the same chambers as Ms Bangay, is Nicholas Wilkinson.
He is married to Olivia Hunt, who once dated Prince William and was named the country’s “hottest” barrister by a blog in 2014.
With costs spiralling, Ruth released an autobiography earlier this year to raise funds while Eamonn has been hosting stage shows about his career.
Eamonn, who has three children with first wife, has already sold two properties after being hit with a substantial tax bill.
