Fox News host predicts Sydney Sweeney will ‘marry Barron Trump’ after President praise
Sydney Sweeney’s ad campaign for American Eagle has proved controversial but after the President praised her, one pundit thinks she could become part of the Trump family
Fox News host Jesse Watters has stunned viewers by claiming Sydney Sweeney is on track to “marry Barron Trump” following her controversial American Eagle ad.
Watters made the eyebrow-raising comment during a segment on his show as he leapt to Sweeney’s defence amid backlash over her new denim ad campaign with American Eagle. “And you know how this ends,” Watters said.
He continued, “She’s going to marry Barron Trump, and it’s going to create the greatest political dynasty in American history.” Watters’ quip came after conservative pundits discovered Sweeney, star of Euphoria and Anyone But You, is a registered Republican in Florida, a revelation that delighted Donald Trump.
“Sydney Sweeney is a registered Republican? Now I love her ad,” Trump said, grinning, in an interview with CNN. “You’d be surprised how many people are Republicans. That’s one I wouldn’t have known, but I’m glad you told me.”
The President went even further, saying, “If Sydney Sweeney is a registered Republican, I think her ad is fantastic.”
Sweeney, 27, has faced intense scrutiny this week over her American Eagle campaign, which includes the slogan, “Great jeans.” Some critics online accused the ad of using a “dog whistle” to promote eugenics, while others dismissed the outrage as absurd.
In the ad, Sweeney says as the camera pans up her body “Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality, and even eye color. My jeans are blue.”
The video ends with a voiceover proclaiming, “Sydney Sweeney has great jeans.” The actress, who has remained silent on the controversy, shared a photo of a bouquet of pale pink roses on Instagram after the story went viral, seemingly unbothered by the storm.
Trump’s running mate, Senator JD Vance, also weighed in, accusing the left of politicizing everything. “You have a pretty girl doing a jeans ad, and they can’t help but freak out,” he said. “So much of the Democrats is oriented around hostility to basic American life.”
The American Eagle campaign has remained live and the brand has stood by it, saying in a statement, “‘Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans’ is and always was about the jeans. Her jeans. Her story.”
While Sweeney hasn’t commented directly, she’s no stranger to sparking debate. In 2022, she faced criticism after photos surfaced from a family birthday party where some guests wore MAGA-style hats.
