Years Later, Netflix Finally Brings Back the Thriller Fans Never Forgot

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, Season 1, is adapted from the novel by Holly Jackson, which was published in 2019. Now, after a wait of almost two years, Season 2 premieres on Netflix on May 27, 2026. It didn’t take much for me to be sold on the show. It has so many compelling elements: a catchy title, a great premise, and a six-episode first season. It’s the perfect Netflix show to binge in one weekend… or one night.

The series is about Pip Fitz-Amobi (Emma Myers), who decides on a unique school project: looking into who killed Andie Bell (India Lillie Davies), a popular classmate. Even before watching the first six episodes, you can probably guess that her teachers, friends, and family aren’t thrilled that she’s going down this path. That’s exactly what I like so much about the show: Pip’s courage, belief in herself, and intelligence.

Season 2 features a new mystery: Jamie (Eden H. Davies) goes missing, and, of course, Pip can’t help but dive into the situation. Even after spending just a few minutes watching Pip, you immediately know she can’t rest until she figures it out. Pip is also consumed by the trial of Max Hastings (Henry Ashton). Season 2 is also adapted from the second book in Jackson’s series called Good Girl, Bad Blood(what a great title). The trailer suggests all the high-stakes fun of the first season, from a stranger spying on Pip to her determined evidence gathering and the heavy emotions of the young adults in Pip’s world.

Emma Myers’s performance as Enid Sinclair, Wednesday Addams’s roommate, is also impressive. But while seeing Enid again in Wednesday Season 3 will be great, Myers is more captivating to watch in A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder. Although the show has the twists any thriller lover waits for, it’s also a clever character study of someone at an interesting moment in their life. Since she’s almost out of high school, Pip could forget about Andie, plan for the future, and leave her small town behind. Instead, she wants to honor Andie’s memory and prove to herself that she can handle anything.

There’s nothing worse than a spoiler for a thriller series, so I’ll just say that the resolution to the mystery in Season 1 is perfect. It makes sense, but it’s surprising, too, and it makes me excited about what comes next.

‘A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder’ Could Continue For Several Seasons

Although at the time of this writing, Netflix hasn’t renewed the series for a third season, Holly Jackson’s series has four novels, which suggests that it could continue. Season 3 could be based on As Good As Dead, which was published in 2021, and Season 4 could be adapted from the 2021 prequel, Kill Joy. Sure, it might be a bit unconventional for the fourth season of a TV series to go back to the beginning of the story, but that’s what is so appealing about that idea.

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder could have ended after Season 1 since it’s fun six-episode binge, but Pip is so cool that it would be sad to never see her again. I’m sure that Season 2 will be just as smart. I bet Pip’s story could continue for several more years, and I’ll be here, watching every season that we’re lucky enough to get.
