MICHELLE OBAMA MOVES CROWD WITH EMOTIONAL TRIBUTE TO BARACK

President Barack Obama grew noticeably emotional as his wife, former first lady Michelle Obama, gave a heartfelt address at the opening of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago on June 18.

“You told me all those years ago that you couldn’t promise me the world, but you could promise me an interesting life, and of course you outdid yourself and managed to give me both,” Michelle said in her remarks.

“I know it hasn’t always been easy, but there hasn’t been a single second through this experience that standing by your side hasn’t left me in awe,” she added.

Barack and Michelle married in 1992, more than a decade before he became President of the United States. They welcomed daughters Malia and Sasha in 1998 and 2001, respectively.

“Eight years in the crucible, and not once did you melt from the heat,” Michelle said of her husband’s time in the Oval Office. “Not once did you let it harden you.”

Barack began to tear up as Michelle continued singing his praises: “Instead, you used it to reveal your truest essence, your stubborn optimism and unflinching courage, your dazzling brilliance and unpretentious decency, your ferocious work ethic and absolutely unshakable moral fiber.”

Thursday’s dedication ceremony marked Barack’s first formal appearance with his wife and daughters in nearly a decade. The last time that the four of them were officially photographed together was in January 2017, days before Barack left office.

For her speech, Michelle sported a tailored pinstriped look by Thom Browne. She paired a single-breasted blazer featuring a frayed hemline with a matching pencil skirt, adding a strapless white top and pointed-toe pumps. A smattering of jeweled earrings and rings completed her ensemble.
