Amanda Holden didn’t hold back when chatting about relationship “icks” during a recent Heart Radio Breakfast Show — taking a cheeky swipe at her first husband, Les Dennis.
The 55-year-old presenter and Britain’s Got Talent judge revealed she could completely relate to a listener’s shocking confession: “My husband saved his fingernail clippings to use as a toothpick.”
Amanda laughed as she added: “That is wrong on so many levels! I mean, maybe that’s from my first husband’s third wife, she could’ve texted in this morning… but anyway, that’s definitely an ick!”
Co-host Jamie Theakston couldn’t resist a quip: “Is this the reason why he’s an ex?”
Amanda explained the habit reminded her of Les Dennis, whom she was married to from 1995 until 2003. Les had famously admitted to keeping his nail clippings during a 2021 appearance on Would I Lie To You?, confessing: “I like to keep old fingernail clippings to use later… regular toothpicks don’t quite get in between my teeth.”
Despite the gross revelation, Amanda made it clear she has moved on and praised her current husband Chris Hughes, joking about little quirks in their own marriage. She revealed that Chris sometimes finds it tricky when she dictates texts into her phone, explaining: “I’ve got massive nails and it often comes out completely wrong. He says it’s like a Countdown conundrum trying to figure it out!”
The TV star’s candid confession had listeners in stitches, proving Amanda isn’t afraid to dish on the past — or poke fun at the present.
With a mix of laughter and honesty, Amanda showed that while relationships may come with a few “icks,” a sense of humor goes a long way.
