The new I’m A Celebrity spin-off is beginning to attract attention, with reports claiming the first stars have now been lined up.
The special series is expected to mark 25 years of the ITV reality show, but it is said to be very different from the main programme, which returns later this year. Instead of the familiar jungle setting, the spin-off is reportedly set to film in Canada.
According to reports, the new format will see well-known faces paired together as they take on challenges in the Canadian wilderness. The idea is said to focus on teamwork, pressure and how celebrity duos cope when they have to live and compete closely together.
Brian McFadden and Keith Duffy are reportedly the first names attached to the project. The former Westlife and Boyzone stars, who have also performed together as Boyzlife, are said to have agreed to take part ahead of filming planned for September.
A source quoted in the original report claimed producers are pleased about the pair’s involvement, suggesting they could bring humour, energy and mischief to the camp.
The spin-off is also expected to include dramatic outdoor trials, with pairs competing for food and hoping to become the winning duo. Casting may reportedly include celebrity friends, famous partnerships and possibly stars with non-famous relatives or partners.
For now, ITV has not officially confirmed the full line-up, so the names remain reported rather than final. Still, the idea of Brian and Keith facing a rugged Canadian adventure has already given fans plenty to talk about.
The main I’m A Celebrity series is still expected to return later this year on ITV1 and ITVX.
