Andy Burnham has delivered his first major speech as Prime Minister and blamed the country’s problems on Margaret Thatcher.
Mrs Thatcher, who left office in the early 1990s, entered Number 10 when Mr Burnham was 9-years-old.
In his speech he took aim at the 1980s saying that privatisation had led to major issues for the UK. He has repeatedly said he would undo Mrs Thatcher’s legacy.
The new Prime Minister is calling for change, and has called for the “biggest change” in the last 40 years as he takes aim at the Thatcher-era Government. However, he said he would set out his 10-year plan for the UK later this year – not today.
Opponents have branded him a ‘Messiah without a Mandate’ and demanded he call a general election.
