VIVIENNE MAKES A BOLD NEW CHOICE AS SHE OFFICIALLY LEAVES HER FATHER’S LAST NAME BEHIND. k2

Vivienne signed the name change petition the day she turned 18, becoming the fourth of Jolie and Pitt’s children to request the same change.

The Jolie-Pitt herd continues to thin out.

Vivienne Jolie-Pitt has become the latest of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s children to file a formal request to drop her father’s last name from her own.

According to documents reviewed by Entertainment Weekly, the 18-year-old filed a petition in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Monday requesting that her legal name be changed from Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie.

Though the petition was filed on Monday, Vivienne signed the petition for change of name on July 12, her 18th birthday. In California, petitioners must be at least 18 years old to file; otherwise, a petition may be filed on their behalf by a parent, near relative, or guardian.

Vivienne noted that the reason for the name change was “personal,” and a hearing originally scheduled for Oct. 30 has been set for Nov. 2.

With Vivienne’s petition, a majority of Jolie and Pitt’s children have taken formal steps to distance themselves from their famous father.

Vivienne follows in the footsteps of Zahara, 21, who requested that her name be changed to Zahara Marley Jolie in June. She had previously dropped Pitt’s name when walking the stage during her graduation from Spelman College in May, and in 2023, introduced herself as Zahara Marley Jolie after joining the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority.

Shiloh, Pitt and Jolie’s 20-year-old, filed to change her name to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie on May 27, 2006 — like Vivienne, on her 18th birthday. Maddox Jolie-Pitt, the former couple’s eldest, also requested to change his name to Maddox Chivan Jolie.

Vivienne had already begun using the Pitt-free version of her name when, in 2024, she was credited as Vivienne Jolie in the Playbill for The Outsiders, a Broadway production of the classic novel by S.E. Hinton that she co-produced with her mother.
