VIDEO footage has revealed the moment murderer Vickrum Digwa told his mother to take the knife he used to kill Henry Nowak away from the crime scene.
The Crown Prosecution Service released the clip after Digwaâs mother, Kiran Kaur, was jailed for three years at Southampton crown court last Friday for assisting an offender.
In the footage taken on Digwaâs phone, which is pointed at the ground, he can be heard speaking to Kaur in Punjabi, asking her to remove the knife.
She then took it back to the family home.
Digwa, 23, was jailed for life with a minimum term of 21 years on June 1 for the murder of Henry, after falsely claiming the 18-year-old racially abused him.
Last month, The Sun revealed Nowakâs killer would have his âlenientâ jail sentence reviewed after the case sparked fury across the UK.
Henry was knifed five times with a 21cm ceremonial sword by Digwa in a sick attack in Southampton last December.
Solicitor General Ellie Reeves has referred the case to the Court of Appeal under the unduly lenient scheme, saying it âhorrified meâ.
She said: âThis case horrified me, and I know that feeling is shared by the British public.
âIt is right that difficult questions need to be answered about the way the police handled Henryâs Nowakâs murder, while my role is to review Digwaâs sentence for his crimes.
âAfter careful consideration, I have taken the decision to refer this case to the Court of Appeal.
âNo sentence can ever undo the devastation that Henryâs family have suffered, or fill the void left by his loss.
âBut I hope this referral goes some way towards bringing them the justice they deserve.â
Hampshire Police is currently being investigated by the IOPC, the police watchdog, over Henryâs arrest.
