Mother of the groom Denise Welch has revealed what she wore to her son Matty Healy’s wedding to Gabbriette Bechtel over the weekend, showing off the jaw-dropping gown
Denise Welch has shared some incredible photos from inside son Matty Healy’s wedding, a day she said she would ‘never forget.’ The 1975 frontman, 37, married American model Gabbriette, 28, on Saturday at the Chateau Marmont in Hollywood.
Mother-of-the-groom Denise, 68, looked very glamorous in pictures she shared on Instagram, after stylist Ryan Kay styled her make-up and hair for the occassion. She could be seen in a beautiful off-the-shoulder dusky pink satin dress, with huge puff sleeves and delicate silver jewellery. In the caption, she wrote: “My dress for my son Matthew’s wedding. The happiest time of my life.”
Her post received lots of praise from her fellow TV stars, including Katie Piper, Stacey Dooley and Claire Sweeney. Claire wrote that Denise was “just beautiful pure class”, while Stacey added five hot face emojis and Katie commented five fire emojis.

Ruth Langsford added: “Absolutely stunning! The happiest of wedding days to Matthew and Gabbriette.” Amanda Holden agreed that the dress was “stunning”, while Frankie Bridge said she was “obsessed” with Denise’s look.
Denise also shared a series of pictures from the wedding weekend, including pics with her son Matty, who wore a custom Paul Smith suit, and second son Louis. She was also snapped sat next to bride Gabbriette, who wore a gown designed by Matieres Fecales, inspired by the dresses of the 19th century, and with Charli XCX, who wore a black dress.
The wedding was attended by several celebrity guests including Healy’s close friend Charli XCX, presenter Nick Grimshaw and Coronation Street star Sally Dynevor.

In a tribute, Welch wrote: “To see my eldest son marry the most beautiful, funny, crazy girl under the Hollywood sign was a night I’ll never forget. They are made for each other. I kept looking around and couldn’t believe so many of our friends and family were all together in Los Angeles celebrating this most magical, beautiful few days watching the love between Matthew and Gabbriette.
Welch also welcomed Gabbriette’s parents, Gary and Chayo, into the family. She added: “We love our daughter-in-law and our new family. I’ll need to do a million reels to capture the fun we all had.”
In another picture, Denise revealed that Gabbriette had changed into a white suit and top hat for part of the wedding. She also shared a picture of the t-shirts they had made, that had snaps of the couple on the front, with ‘Gabbrietty’ written over the top.
On 18 July, frontman of the 1975 Matty Healy married model Gabbriette Bechtel. The couple were surrounded by A-list guests as they wed at Madonna’s former home Castillo del Lago. Guests included Charli XCX, who is married to fellow 1975 member George Daniel, Emily Ratajkowski and model Alex Consani.

Matty and his band performed for their guests after they tied the knot in view of the Hollywood sign. A representative for the couple told the Daily Mail: “Matty Healy and Gabbriette Bechtel were married yesterday at a private ceremony in Los Angeles, attended by their family and close friends.”
The wedding came two weeks after Matty’s ex-girlfriend married Travis Kelce in a huge 1000 guest ceremony at Madison Square Garden.

Matty, 37, and Gabbriette, 28, were first linked together in September 2023, just after Matty’s split from Taylor that June. In 2024, they announced their engagement, after just nine-months of dating. They are thought to be considering LA as their permanent home, rather than return to Matty’s residence in North London, as Gabbriette is originally from Orange County, California.
The Sun reported that Matty and Gabbriette spent more than £100,000 on flights to make sure everyone they wanted out in California for the wedding could be there.

Matty celebrated his stag do by holding a watch party for England’s World Cup match against Norway, before heading out to party with his bandmates. His groomsmen booked a 1975 tribute band to perform, with Matty seeing the funny side as he got up on stage to sing with them.
Meanwhile, Gabbiette went to Las Vegas for her hen, posing next to ‘Mrs Healy’ balloons.
Denise shares her singer son with TV actor Tim Healy, 74. The pair married in 1988 and have two children together, Matty and Louis, 25, but divorced in 2012. Tim has since married Joan Anderton, while Denise married PR manager Lincoln Townley. It was her third marriage, as she had been married to David Easter before marrying Tim.
