KEIR Starmer refuses to even contemplate quitting the ECHR to stop the boats and protect Britain’s borders.

He thinks he can persuade European leaders it can be ā€œreformedā€ instead

Yesterday, that was exposed as a fantasy.

In a typically arrogant outburst, Council of Europe commissioner Michael Flaherty said a recent UKĀ Supreme CourtĀ ruling to treat women by their biological sex,Ā NOT gender identity, could break ECHR laws.

It’sĀ yet another example of overreach by a high-handed institution which thinks it can still dictate to Britain.

Top legal expertĀ Lord Sumption believes the ECHR can never be reformedĀ because the Court makes up theĀ lawĀ as it goes along.

Only by quitting it entirely would Britain ever be free of theĀ human rightsĀ and privacy madness it enshrines,Ā helping illegal migrants and foreign criminals to fight deportation.

The question for theĀ Prime MinisterĀ is this:Ā Who does he think decides the law?

Britain’s SupremeĀ Court? Its electedĀ Parliament? Or unaccountable meddlers in Strasbourg?Ā

Not working

LABOUR, the party of the workers, has created aĀ jobsĀ crisis where fewer are in work than at any time since theĀ pandemic.Ā

Unemployment is at a four-year highĀ thanks chiefly to theĀ epically stupid NationalĀ InsuranceĀ rise.

An unwelcome pattern in the economy is now forming. Fewer jobs, lowerĀ payĀ andĀ sickness benefits rates soaring at 5,000 per day.

More job-destroying tax rises on the way.

Meanwhile, the IMF says inflation in Britain — already the highest among theĀ G7Ā economies — will get even higher as growth flatlines.

That throwsĀ Rachel Reeves’ chances of raising living standards for ordinary families into massive doubt.

Labour should ditch theĀ tax rises planned for next month’s Budget.

And slash ballooning public spending instead of doing all it can to protect it.Ā

Soft touch

WHY, when the country is broke, is so much publicĀ moneyĀ being spent making life comfortable for migrants who we want to kick OUT?Ā

Why are we providing art classes and IT lessons forĀ people who are in the process of being deported?
