The Oregon-born singer died just hours after his family revealed he had been hospitalised with breathing issues.

He was diagnosed with walking pneumonia and transferred for treatment, his family said, as they asked for thoughts and prayers.
Aimless Records confirmed the tragic news in a lengthy statement on Facebook on Saturday morning.
“Aimless, Inc. Headquarters is heartbroken to share that our Founder, our Folk Hero, our Poet of the World, our Vice President of the Abrupt Change Dept., the Storyteller, our beloved Todd Daniel Snider has departed this world,” the post read.
“Where do we find the words for the one who always had the right words, who knew how to distill everything down to its essence with words and song while delivering the most devastating, hilarious, and impactful turn of phrases?
“Always creating rhyme and meter that immediately felt like an old friend or a favorite blanket.
“Someone who could almost always find the humor in this crazy ride on Planet Earth.”
“Today, put on one of your favorite Todd Snider records and ‘play it loud enough to wake up all of your neighbors or at least loud enough to always wake yourself up’,” they told fans.
“We love you Todd, sail on old friend, we’ll see you again out there on the road somewhere down the line. You will always be a force of nature.”
On Friday, his family and friends described his condition as “complicated” after he struggled with breathing and was taken to a hospital in Hendersonville, Tennessee.
“His care team and those closest to him are by his side and doing everything they can,” they said.
It comes just weeks after he canceled his US tour dates after sustaining serious injuries when he was allegedly ambushed in a violent assault outside his hotel on October 31.
His team announced that he was expected to recover from his injuries.
Days after that incident, he was arrested after a dispute at a hospital.
The singer was arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on November 2 and was charged with disorderly conduct, threat of violence, and suspicion of criminal trespassing.
Snider was discharged from a Salt Lake City hospital when he believed he shouldn’t have been and “started yelling/cursing at the [hospital] staff” the arrest affidavit seen by The Tennessean states.
“This caused public inconvenience and alarm among hospital employees and residents by making unreasonable noise by shouting,” it added.
The singer then allegedly “made verbal threats to [a] victim by getting into the face of the victim and stating they were going to ‘kick your a**.”
His team have not commented publicly about the arrest and he was released from jail without needing to pay bail under the agreement he would appear in court.
Snider’s first album Songs for the Daily Planet was released in 1994 and reached highs of 23 on the US Heatseekers charts.
His 2008 album Peace Queer reached number eight on the Heatseekers Charts but his 2009 album The Excitement Plan hit number six.
The star was inducted into the Oregon Music Hall of Fame in October 2021.
He is best known for his songs ‘Beer Run’, ‘I Can’t Complain’, and ‘Just Like Old Times’.
