TV presenter Jeff Brazier and his PR executive wife Kate Dwyer called time on their relationship after tying the knot in 2018 as Jeff made a heartbreaking statement
Jeff Brazier’s former mother in law has said that she knew “it would not work” amid his recent marriage split from Kate Dwyer. It has been announced this week that the ITV presenter is no longer in a relationship with the PR executive.
Jackiey Budden, whose famous daughter Jade Goody died in 2007 at the age of 29, has spoken out about what she thinks really happened. She has said that she thinks Jeff thought marrying Kate would make things “easier” but this wasn’t the case.
She has said that the marriage caused a rift between Jeff and his sons. Jeff and Kate met back in 2013 while working on the set of ITV’s This Morning.
They then went on to tie the knot in Portugal five years later, with his two sons from his previous relationship, Bobby and Freddy serving as joint best men.
Jackiey has said that the marriage is “the root” of why she and Jeff don’t see eye to eye. The Daily Mail reported that she said: “They’re my grandsons after all….and that’s the root of why Jeff and I don’t really get on.
“When I tried to be involved in the boys’ upbringing he wasn’t interested. Maybe he thought that by marrying Kate that it would make things easier but I always felt that it would not work.”
Jeff was seen without his wedding ring while reporting from Reykjavik on Monday’s GMB, while Kate reportedly also ditched her band after heading to Las Vegas for the Grand Prix.
According to The Sun Kate has returned to her flat in Hackney. It is said the couple recently went their separate ways after a “year of hell” during which they grew apart.
Jeff, 46, married the PR executive in September 2018 and they became a “blended” family with his sons. Sources close to the family say they have faced a difficult year, which presented challenges to both relationships.
It is believed Freddy and Bobby always saw Kate as “dad’s partner” rather than having any closer connection to the her. One source told the Daily Mail: “Jeff desperately wanted to portray the perfect family and had always hoped that Kate could fill the void left by Jade Goody – but Bobby and Freddy never truly accepted her as ‘stepmum’.
“To them, she was always ‘Dad’s partner’ rather than someone they felt truly connected to.” Jeff is said to have fought hard to protect the close family unit he and Jade had.
His marriage with Kate seemed strong as, having tied the knot in September 2018, they documented their happy moments on social media and lived together in the family home.
The source close to the couple added: “The fact is that Kate and Jeff had a fiery relationship, too, despite the public displays. This is far from their first split, and some of the rows have been pretty ugly away from the cameras.”
