The upcoming ninth season of Dancing With The Stars kicks off on January 4
COMEDIAN Michael Fry has been revealed as the fourth contestant for Dancing with the Stars 2026.
Hailing from Navan, Co Meath, the 31-year-old is best known for his viral sketches and musical parodies on social media, he also appeared in Derry Girls and Holding.
Speaking about joining Dancing with the Stars this year, Michael said: “I’m very excited to be learning how to dance in a way that doesn’t suggest I’m utterly ashamed of myself.
“It’ll come with transferable skills in that being more aware of my body is only going to make me a better performer.
“Michelle Yeoh started out as a dancer and ended up doing cool fight scenes and action movies. It could be me in the next Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”.
The stand-up, who also co-wrote and appeared in RTE 2 sketch show No Worries If Not! said he is a novice at dancing.
He added: “Other than at weddings, I’ve got zero dance experience as an adult, but I did Irish dancing and stage school when I was a child.
“I won a trophy for Irish dancing and it’s the only trophy I own. Maybe I’m only good at dancing if I don’t have to use my arms…
“My friends have all been extremely supportive of me taking part in the show and are keen to come see me live in the audience.”
He continued: “They’re all very jealous that I get to learn how to dance with a professional and would have been furious if I had turned it down.”
“I am nervous about such a physical challenge because I’m extremely unfit.
” I’ve treated my body badly over the years and we’re about to find out just how badly.
“I’m hoping there’s an artful way to bend over with a stitch mid-routine.”
Eurovision singer Niamh Kavanagh, Traitors Ireland star Paudie Moloney and the current Rose of Tralee, Katelyn Cummins, have all been confirmed for the upcoming ninth season of Dancing With The Stars.
Niamh won the song contest for Ireland in 1993 with her ballad, In Your Eyes.
She was later signed up by Simon Cowell to a million-dollar deal with Arista Records, recording an album in the US which won rave reviews.
‘APPREHENSIVE’
Niamh entered Eurovision for a second time in 2010 and qualified for the final in Oslo.
In recent years, the mum of two has moved to doing the Agony Rants podcast, with co-host Gearoid Farrelly, who was in the last DWTS season.
Former prison officer Paudie, who has had two hips replaced, revealed he was both “excited” and “also a little apprehensive at the same time.”
And Rose of Tralee Katelyn Cummins has been revealed as the third contestant in the new season of Dancing With The Stars.
The 20-year-old showed off her jiving skills on stage during the competition last August when she took her escort Tommy for a spin.
The performance helped her bag the title when she was crowned the first-ever Laois Rose in the Dome in Tralee.
The Irish Sun exclusively revealed last week that Brian Kennedy had been signed up for the dance show favourite in 2026.
- DANCING With The Stars’ next series officially kicks off Sunday, January 4, 2026 on RTE One and RTE Player.
