Jesy Nelson reveals twins heartbreaking diagnosis
On Sunday (January 4) Jesy shared an Instagram video confirming her twins had been diagnosed with Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA).
She told her followers in the emotional post: âThe girls have now been diagnosed with a severe muscle disease called SMA type one. For those of you who donât know what SMA type one severe muscular disease that a baby can get.
âItâs done for spinal muscular atrophy, which can affect, well, it does affect every muscle in the body, down to legs, arms, breathing, swallowing.
âAnd essentially, what it does is, over time, it kills the muscle to the body. And if itâs not treated in time, your babyâs life expectancy will not make it past the age of two.â
Jesy says twins will ânever be able to walkâ
Jesy also shared that she has been told her twins would both be disabled and ânever able to walkâ.
She said: âWhen they assessed the girls at Great Ormond Street, we were told that they will never be able to walk and never regain their neck strength. So they will be disabled.â
Looking ahead, Jesy added that her daughters have started treatment. She explained: âAnd so the best thing we can do right now is to get the treatment. And then just hope for the best.
âSo hopefully the girls have had their treatment, which youâre so grateful for. Because if they donât have it, they will die.â

âIâm grieving a life I thought I was going to haveâ
Revealing sheâs had to put her daughters on breathing machines, Jesy said: âI feel like Iâve almost had to become a nurse in the space of two weeks.â
âThe reason I wanted to make this video was because, the last few months has honestly been the most heartbreaking time of my life. I feel like my whole life has done a 360.
âIâm grieving a life I thought I was going to have with my children.â She then noted how grateful she is to have her beautiful daughters. Jesy added: âI truly believe that my girls will defy all odds.
âAnd with the right help, they will fight this, and go on to do things that have never been done.â
