TV favourite Stacey Solomon has opened up about why she’d rather stay in with her children than hit the party scene — and shared the touching daily moment that brings her the most joy.

The 34-year-old presenter, who lives with her husband Joe Swash and their blended brood at Pickle Cottage in Essex, says nothing beats curling up on the sofa surrounded by their kids and dogs. Stacey and Joe share three young children — Rex, 3, Rose, 2, and Belle, 1 — while Stacey also has sons Zachary, 15, and Leighton, 12, from previous relationships. Add in their two pups, Peanut and Teddy, and it’s a full house.

Speaking to The Mirror, Stacey said: “I love coming home. My favourite part of the day is getting excited about coming home to Pickle Cottage, where I live with my husband Joe and five kids. Actually, my favourite thing in the world is getting on the sofa. And first the dogs, then all the pickles [the children] follow along, piling on top of me.
“Just laying with them, watching TV, having cuddles and being together… it’s where I belong. I know all too well there’ll be a day when they’d rather play the PlayStation, so I’m making the most of these moments.”

The former X Factor contestant, who won I’m A Celebrity in 2010 (where she also met Joe), has found her calling in the world of DIY and home makeover TV, with award-winning BBC show Sort Your Life Out and her latest Channel 4 series, Renovation Rescue. But Stacey was quick to credit the support of their extended families, noting she wouldn’t be able to balance everything without them.
Despite all the love and laughter at home, things aren’t always perfect. Recently, Stacey revealed a painful accident she had while baking bread in her kitchen — one that left her asking fans for first-aid advice.
“I need your help and guidance,” she said on Instagram, explaining that she had accidentally burned her stomach while pulling bread out of the oven after a gym session. “I pulled it too far and where I was wearing my gym kit, it went straight into my stomach.”
She continued: “I don’t know if anyone else’s brain is like this — it never registers burns like it does any other pain. I had a whole thought process before I realised, ‘Oww!’”
Stacey quickly treated the burn with cold water and burn cream, but later checked the damage and was shocked: “I’ve just literally opened it up and I’m like, ‘Ah, what have I done?’”
Sharing a photo of the nasty burn with fans, she asked for tips to reduce the pain and avoid long-term scarring: “It’s right on the bloomin’ crease of my tummy, so every time I bend down I’m like ‘oooh.’ Honestly, I’m so clumsy like this.”
Despite the mishap, it’s clear Stacey wouldn’t trade her busy home life for anything — not even a glam night out.
