Karoline Leavitt has been called “lying Leavitt” by CNN viewers after she tried to defend Donald Trump’s comments about the war in Iran.

The president, 79, has claimed he launched military missiles on the Middle Eastern country to try and protect Americans by “eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime.” Trump also cited Iran’s nuclear reactor as a justification for the strikes, but there has been no evidence provided that the facility was being used to develop nuclear weapons.

In fact, multiple scientists have spoken out to say the Tehran Research Reactor doesn’t have the capacity for nuclear weapons. Leavitt, 28, was quizzed by CNN reporter Nancy Cordes about Trump’s comments during a press briefing on Tuesday, March 10.

Cordes asked, “There are no U.S. leaders or Israeli leaders who are making those same claims. So is he making this up to justify his decision to go to war now?”

Leavitt was furious as she responded, “The president is not making anything up, Nancy. He is looking at this every single day, based on intelligence, based on facts and based on intelligence that he himself and his negotiators have consumed based on their, again, negotiations with the rogue Iranian regime over the past year.

“And the president and his team tried in a good faith way to reach a diplomatic deal through peaceful means with the Iranian regime. And Iran chose this path to death and destruction.”

She continued, “Iran wanted to attack the United States of America and the president was not going to sit back and allow that to happen. He was not going to sit back and allow that to happen and everyone in this room should be grateful for it.”

A clip of the CNN broadcast was shared on X, where viewers took to the comments to slam Leavitt. “Thank you reporter whoever you are, for calling out her daily lies,” one person wrote.

Giving the White House Press Secretary a new nickname, someone else commented, “Lyin Leavitt,” before adding, “I know you lie cause your lips are moving.” A third person echoed, “Leavitt keeps lying, and the media keeps letting her.”

Someone else accused Leavitt of being, “Legally blonde. Licensed to lie.” Another CNN viewer also slammed Trump as they wrote, “He is 100% making things up and so is Karoline.”

“Just curious – will you go down as the dumbest and most rudest secretary of all time or there have been worse?” a sixth person questioned on X. “She is definitely competing for the worst human race as well. Slightly behind Trump though.”

Leavitt’s comments at the press briefing come after Trump previously took to Truth Social to share his justifications for the war in Iran. The president commented, “A short time ago, the United States military began major combat operations in Iran.

“Our objective is to defend the American people by eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime. A vicious group of very hard, terrible people. Its menacing activities directly endanger the United States, our troops, our bases overseas, and our allies throughout the world.”

He added, “Iran is the world’s number one state sponsor of terror, and just recently killed tens of thousands of its own citizens on the street as they protested. It has always been the policy of the United States, in particular my administration, that this terrorist regime can never have a nuclear weapon. I’ll say it again, they can never have a nuclear weapon. That is why in Operation Midnight Hammer last June, we obliterated the regime’s nuclear program at Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan.

“After that attack, we warned them never to resume their malicious pursuit of nuclear weapons, and we sought repeatedly to make a deal. We tried. They wanted to do it. They didn’t want to do it. Again they wanted to do it. They didn’t want to do it. They didn’t know what was happening. They just wanted to practice evil. But Iran refused, just as it has for decades and decades.”

Trump then said, “They’ve rejected every opportunity to renounce their nuclear ambitions, and we can’t take it anymore. Instead, they attempted to rebuild their nuclear program and to continue developing the long range missiles that can now threaten our very good friends and allies in Europe, our troops stationed overseas, and could soon reach the American homeland.”
