Martin Kemp has revealed that he is stepping back from his presenting role on the Greatest Hits Radio Mix Tape shows. His final programme will air on April 4, with former Breakfast Club presenter Jenny Powell set to take over the slot from April 10.

The former Spandau Ballet star first joined the station in June 2021 and has now confirmed that he wants to focus on his live Back to the 80s shows taking place this summer.

He said in a statement: “I’ve had an incredible run on Greatest Hits Radio but it’s time to let someone else share their Mix Tapes with the nation. I’ve got a busy year ahead with my Back to the 80s live shows, so now is the right time to step back and I know I’m leaving the listeners in safe hands with Jenny.”

Jenny has also spoken of her excitement about taking over the position.

She said: “I’m so excited! I’ve loved waking up with the Breakfast Club listeners on weekend mornings. But time for a change.”

“I’m going to be swapping my early morning alarm calls and turning up the volume on Friday and Saturday nights for the iconic Mix Tape show! Can’t wait to share the music and big energy with everyone!”

She will be on air every Friday and Saturday night from 7pm, broadcasting live from Greatest Hits Radio’s Manchester studios.

Greatest Hits Radio Content Director Andy Ashton also paid tribute to Martin, saying: “I want to say a huge thank you to Martin for being such a big part of our station over the last five years and for sharing his stories and favourite weekend anthems with our listeners.”

“I’m delighted to say that he’ll remain very much part of the Greatest Hits Radio family with a number of projects we’ll be announcing later in the year.”
