A major casting update has emerged for the upcoming Bosch: Start of Watch prequel series. Several actors have joined the project in recurring roles, expanding the ensemble cast as the show explores the early years of Harry Bosch.

William Fichtner and more join the cast of Bosch: Start of Watch

William Fichtner, Azita Ghanizada, and Kathleen Wilhoite have joined the cast of Bosch: Start of Watch in recurring roles, according to a report by Deadline. The MGM+ drama serves as a prequel set in 1991 Los Angeles and follows 26-year-old Harry Bosch during his first days as a rookie LAPD officer. Cameron Monaghan leads the series as the younger version of the character.

Set in 1991 Los Angeles, the series follows Bosch as he navigates a city marked by racial tension, gang violence, and divisions within the police department. While handling routine calls, he tries to establish himself within the LAPD. He becomes involved in a major heist and a wider corruption network that helps shape the detective he later becomes.

Azita Ghanizada plays Stacy, an ambitious lawyer drawn to criminal power. Her relationship with master thief Cory Harbor pulls her into a dangerous world that tests her ambitions. William Fichtner portrays Calhern, a respected defense attorney who becomes a power broker in Los Angeles’ criminal underworld. Kathleen Wilhoite appears as Helen, Bosch’s foster mother grieving the loss of her husband.

The series also stars Omari Hardwick as Bosch’s training officer Eli Bridges, Ariana Guerra as rookie LAPD officer Rosa, and JD Pardo as professional thief Cory. Fabel Entertainment produces the series. Tom Bernardo and Brian Anthony co-created the project, with Bernardo serving as showrunner. Michael Connelly is among the executive producers.

Michael Connelly said the prequel explores Bosch’s origins, stating, “Being able to see how Harry Bosch became the man we have loved for 10 seasons is a gift to me and his many fans.” Bernardo added that the series portrays how the early 1990s shaped both the character and Los Angeles.
