Ant and Dec have revealed that they’ve only ever had “one big argument” during their 37-year partnership – and it ended with Dec storming off home. The TV stars met as child actors on Byker Grove in 1989 before becoming one of the biggest presenting double acts in the country over the last few decades.

While the pair have hosted a number of quiz shows together throughout their career, they have revealed that they had their only major clash over a board game of ITV’s Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. Speaking on their podcast today, the duo admitted that they haven’t played it since.

“We had an argument over Who Wants to be a Millionaire board game,” Ant said, describing their only big row. “Dec packed up the board game and went home – like a child.”

Dec, 50, defiantly added: “It was my board game so I took it home because you were a d**k.” While Ant, 50, protested that he wasn’t, Dec continued: “You were so vindictive as a game show host.”

Dec explained that Ant had given him a question about murder mystery authors, with two of the options being Agatha Christie and Ruth Rendell. “I go, ‘It’s either Agatha Christie or Ruth Rendell,’ and I made the mistake of saying it out loud,” he said.

“I said, ‘I’ll take the 50-50 lifeline.’ You then give the question over and the question master closes two windows. He closed the other two and left Agath Christie and Ruth Rendell.”

A laughing Ant replied: “Of course I did! Valid! I was clever and valid. I was not vindictive. Clever and valid. It’s what Chris Tarrant would have done. It’s what the computer would have done.

“Anyway, Dec used a very loud expletive then packed up the board game and went home.”

Dec confirmed: “I did. That was the end of the game. We’ve never played it since.”

It comes just days after Ant and Dec revealed on the Stick To Football podcast that they planned to leave Britain’s Got Talent – but boss Simon Cowell begged them to stay. “We’ve been annoyed at him a few times over the years,” Ant said of Simon.

“We went to LA to see him to tell him we were going to leave Britain’s Got Talent because we weren’t having a very nice time. He was always late it was gone through his period where he would just never turn up on time.”

Dec added that as they were in the show “less and less” and yet it was taking up a lot of their time, they wanted to leave but Simon promised to make changes to the show. “We sat there having lunch and he went, ‘I can’t believe you were thinking of leaving,’ and he leaned over in the restaurant in the middle of LA and started tickling me going, ‘you will never leave me,'” Dec continued.
