Tyler is currently scheduled to perform at the SummerLUST Music Festival in Għaxaq, Malta, on May 22, as well as a show in Wiesmoor, Germany, on May 30. She has more than two dozen additional European concerts scheduled throughout 2026.
The singer most recently performed live at a London concert in March.
Tyler first “fell in love” with the Algarve, the southernmost region of Portugal, when she recorded an album there in the late 1970s. “I loved it so much that I bought a house there,” she wrote in The Guardian in 2001. “Even 20 years on, the place is still very raw and unspoilt, although a lot of Portugal has been ruined.”
The Welsh musician was granted an MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) in 2023 for her services to music. “I never ever thought I would have something like this, my mother and father would be so proud,” she told the U.K.’s PA news agency at the time (per The Independent).
After the ceremony, Tyler also reflected on the enduring popularity of “Total Eclipse of the Heart.”
“Lots of people ask me, ‘Aren’t you fed up of singing it?’ But there is no way, I love it and everybody does, it is a karaoke classic.”
The musician shared similar sentiments with Good Morning America when the track’s Spotify streams spiked around the time of the total solar eclipse in 2023. “Every time the eclipse comes, everyone all over the world, they play ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ and I never get tired of singing it,” she said.
Tyler landed the track when she reached out to its writer, Jim Steinman, who had penned successful collaborations with Meat Loaf in the 1970s.
“He played the grand piano while Rory Dodd sang ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ to me. I understood immediately what an incredible song it was,” she remembered of an early meeting with Steinman in a 2023 interview with The Guardian. “Meat Loaf had lost his voice, and after it was a hit he always used to say: “‘Dang. That song should have been mine!'”
