Corriedale’s biggest bombshells – double death, terrifying diagnosis and shock return
Corriedale aired this evening, with a shocking set of twists and turns as the worlds of Coronation Street and Emmerdale collided – literally – in a crash that will change lives forever
Corriedale aired some shocking scenes this evening – including a devastating double death, a harrowing diagnosis for a soap legend and a return no one was expecting. Coronation Street and Emmerdale finally came together in a soap first.
In dramatic scenes this evening, we learned of the moments leading up to the horrifying crash as a fight broke out in the car between Aaron Dingle and John Sugden and their vehicle collided with the one with Becky and Lisa Swain travelling in.
Here’s a look at everything that happened in the soap crossover tonight – and what happens next!
Sad death
In devastating scenes, a death was confirmed on the Corriedale crossover – as vicar Billy Mayhew died in the horrifying crash. We knew Billy actor Daniel Brocklebank would be making a sad departure in the soap.
Tragically, Billy was involved in the crash and whilst everyone managed to get out alive from the burning minibus, Billy was not so lucky. As it caught fire ‘hero’ Theo rushed in to try and save Billy but in a shocking turn of events, Theo instead decided to clip Billy back into his seatbelt where he was and thus see to the end of his life – and have Todd, who clearly still loved his ex – all to himself.
Robron news
Whilst there was much heartbreak and disaster tonight on Corriedale, there was some good news for fans of Emmerdale couple Robert Sugden and Aaron Dingle (Ryan Hawley and Danny Miller). Thankfully, the couple managed to reunite after John’s return – and in a sweet moment, hiding behind the burning and crashed cars, the pair decided they’d get married again.
With the divorce going through, there was now nothing – minus John – stopping the pair from living happily ever after. In adorable scenes, Robert and Aaron discussed their “forever”, leaving fans no doubt thrilled.
Justice served
Over on Coronation Street’s side of the pile-up, there was a shocking conclusion for the big storyline with Becky, Lisa and Carla. Fans will know Becky had kidnapped Carla, stopping her from being with Lisa after she realised she was losing her ex to her new woman.
In a shocking turn of events, it all collided – literally – during Corriedale when Becky was finally caught and arrested by Lisa. As Becky tried to say a goodbye to her former partner, Lisa handcuffed her and arrested her for kidnapping Carla and all her other crimes.
It looks like there’s a prison sentence in store for Becky!
Mystery character
We were not expecting to meet a whole new character in the Corriedale crossover – but we did, in the shape of a terrified young woman called Jodie. She was tied up in the back of the van – but we have not yet learned who exactly she is.
However, a scene tonight has teased who she might be and her connection to the other characters. But why has Jodie been tied up and why is her captor keeping her in the back of his van? All will soon be revealed!
Crossover moment
With some soap stars having appeared in both Coronation Street and Emmerdale, a crossover might have caused a little trouble! Of course, fans will remember Emmerdale’s John Sugden appeared in Corrie as Andy Carver, one of Pat Phelan’s victims.
Chris Bisson – who now plays Jai in Emmerdale – also had a starring role in Coronation Street, where he played one of Steve McDonald’s best friends. There was a nod to this in tonight’s episode, as Chris and Simon Gregson came face to face as their characters. Whilst it’s clear in the show, they do not know each other, it was a funny nod for fans.
John’s demise
John, of course, is the one that causes the big crash that brings Coronation Street and Emmerdale together. As John manages to escape, Kit Green (Weatherfield’s police officer) heads into the woods to try and locate the assailant.
Robert also gets involved alongside Cain and there is a struggle between John and Robert over their lover Aaron. In the end, the episode finishes with a surprising twist – which sees Victoria standing over his dead body, but what happened?
Killer twist
In a surprise turn of events, John ends up dead – and Victoria is stood over the body. But did she kill him? Fans will no doubt be speculating whether it was her who pulled the trigger – or was she just the one who discovered the body?
Whatever happens, there’s no doubt drama ahead after this surprise twist – and is John really dead?
Surprise return
In a move no one saw coming, Graham Foster made a shocking return to the Dales. Graham was Joe Tate’s father figure – and at the end of tonight’s episode, we see him make a surprise return to the hospital with plans for his former son.
However, what may surprise fans even more, is that Graham is meant to be dead. He was murdered by Rhona’s evil ex-husband Pierce Harris after he struck up a romance with her – but what does his return mean – and just how is he still alive?
Cain’s diagnosis
Perhaps the most heartbreaking scene tonight was the revelation that Cain has a mass in his body and there are fears it could be cancer. A doctor can be heard telling him he has a growth but insisting it doesn’t necessarily mean death.
It will no doubt be heartbreaking for viewers to see Cain’s diagnosis after him and Moira discussed going on a romantic honeymoon and spending more quality time together. But what’s wrong with Cain, and will he be ok?
More deaths sealed
If you thought the episode wasn’t dramatic enough – there could be more deaths on the way. In the final scenes, David starts having a fit on the floor in the hospital as a horrified Shona watches on.
Elsewhere, there is a call for a crash trolley when Carl Webster’s heart stops beating. With many more injured and in hospital, could there be more deaths on the way – and how will that have ripple effects on the worlds of the Cobbles and the Dales for good?
What’s next?
Spoilers for Emmerdale’s next episodes has revealed things will never be the same again. There is carnage in hospital and more and more is revealed about what’s happened – and just why it did.
Elsewhere, there is a confession from someone – but someone is secretly videoing them. Will their secret be exposed? Another character is in mortal danger – will they make it out alive?
On Coronation Street, the Cobbles mourn the loss of Billy – as others are still fighting for their lives. Of course, there’s heartbreak as the truth of what happened comes to life.
One couple are set to face a life or death situation, whilst a police investigation continues and one resident is in trouble and under arrest, facing charges. Families are at war and surprises are revealed.
