The Strictly Come Dancing star was also able to spend the special occasion with her parents for the first time in more than a decade
Dianne Buswell has been seen thanking her partner, Joe Sugg, for helping her celebrate her first birthday since becoming a mum, as she also marked spending the special occasion with her parents for the first time in more than a decade.
The Strictly Come Dancing star was celebrating her 37th birthday on Wednesday (May 6), with her big day coming weeks after she gave birth to her and Joe’s son, Bowden.
Professional dancer Dianne and YouTuber Joe, who met on the hit BBC One dance show back in 2018 when they were paired together and made it to the competition’s final, delighted fans when they announced in September last year that Dianne was pregnant with their first child and revealed they were having a baby boy.
They then announced they had welcomed their first child into the world on March 16, naming him Bowden. Joe shared the news of their son’s arrival on Instagram as he wrote: “Never felt a love like it,” before adding: “Baby Bowden Mark Richard Sugg,” along with the date 16/03/26.
Since then, Dianne and Joe have continued to document their new life as a family of three, sharing a number of sweet posts on social media. The latest came on Dianne’s birthday, with the Australian star seen marking the occasion with Joe, who had decorated their home with pastel-coloured balloons and also made a homemade cake, and their baby boy as well as Dianne’s parents, who have spent the past few weeks visiting from their home in Bunbury, Australia.
Sharing pictures from her birthday, which gave a glimpse at her celebratory lunch, as well as her gifts and first card addressed to ‘mummy’, Dianne said on Instagram: “Today was magical! Not only was it my first birthday as a mumma but I haven’t been able to spend a birthday with my parents in over 12 years.
“So extremely grateful for this day and a big thank you to @joe_sugg who honestly made this day so special in every single way.” She added: “Also thank you so much to everybody who has sent me wishes today means a lot.”
It comes as the BBC also confirmed that Dianne will be returning to Strictly later this year. She was named among the professional dancer line-up for the 2026 series, while it was also confirmed that new professionals would be recruited and announced closer to the dancing show’s return in autumn to replace Gorka Marquez, Michelle Tsiakkas, Karen Hauer, Nadiya Bychkova and Luba Mushtuk, who have left Strictly.
Returning from 2025’s series alongside Dianne, who was the first pro to knowingly dance on the show while pregnant, are Alexis Warr, Amy Dowden, Aljaz Skorjanec, Johannes Radebe, Jowita Przystal, Julian Caillon, Kai Widdrington, Katya Jones, Lauren Oakley, Nancy Xu, Neil Jones, Nikita Kuzmin, Vito Coppola, and Carlos Gu, who won last year’s series with former England footballer Karen Carney.
