Emmerdale Mack’s death ‘sealed’ despite being rescued as fans left sobbing

Emmerdale viewers are fearing the worst for Mackenzie Boyd. Mackenzie (played by Lawrence Robb) has certainly been through the wringer recently, after discovering that John Sugden (Oliver Farmworth) was responsible for the murder of Nate Robinson (Jurrell Carter) last year and had disposed of his body in a lake.

In a desperate bid to keep his dark secret hidden, John assaulted Mackenzie in the woods before trapping him, severely injured, in an underground bunker. Subsequent episodes saw Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), John’s husband, uncovering the truth about John drugging him, leading to a dramatic confrontation.

The plot took a shocking twist when John confessed all to Aaron, before both men plunged over a cliff edge. While Aaron was rushed to hospital and placed in an induced coma, John seemed to recover relatively quickly, reports the Daily Star.

However, upon regaining consciousness, Aaron revealed to his mother Chas (Lucy Pargeter) the extent of John’s heinous crimes and his imprisonment of Mackenzie. This set off a frantic search for Mack during Thursday’s episode (18th September).

Despite the police and Mack’s wife Charity (Emma Atkins) locating the bunker, there was no sign of Mack. Later, however, John was spotted carrying a weak and barely conscious Mackenzie to a hospital.

He managed to alert medical staff, claiming that Mack had overdosed, before making a swift exit. A distraught Charity later arrived at the hospital, keeping a vigil at Mack’s bedside and praying for his recovery.

In a heart-wrenching moment, Mack uttered her name before opening his eyes and asked if he was dreaming. Overwhelmed with emotion, Charity reassured him by saying “I’m here,” and planted a kiss on his forehead.

Fans have predicted a sad exit

Despite Mack being found, viewers can’t shake off the feeling that a sorrowful departure is looming for the much-loved character. On an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, one viewer speculated: “I think Mack will survive but want to take a break from the village for a while when he gets out of hospital.”

Another fan agreed: “Yeah that’s what usually happens when an actor has a big storyline.” A third echoed: “I can see that happening as well.”

However, some fans believe the character might still meet a tragic end. They wrote: “He could still die? From his injuries or something.” Another person predicted: “Yep more to come I think.”
