A teenage girl and a woman in her 40s have died after getting into difficulty at a beach in Essex.
Emergency services were called to West Mersea beach, near Colchester, at around 5.30pm yesterday following reports that several people needed rescuing in the water, according to police.
A third person has been hospitalised and remains in a serious condition, while two others have been left with non-life-threatening injuries.
