A Place In The Sun star Jasmine Harman has opened up for the first time about her devastation after husband Jon suffered a heart attack during their home renovations.
Jasmine Harman has spoken for the first time about her husband’s shock heart attack at the age of 45 that took place while the couple were renovating their new Spanish home.
A Place In The Sun star Jasmine and Jon, who have two children – Joy, 12 and Albion, nine – have been documenting the trials and tribulations of renovating their home in Estepona in a new daily Channel 4 teatime series. But in today’s episode the building works took a devastating twist when he was filmed being rushed to hospital after falling ill.
And in dramatic scenes that aired this afternoon, Jon was told by doctors he had suffered a heart attack.
Earlier in the episode, Jasmine’s husband had already shared how heart issues run in his family. Tragically in 2016, his sister Jo died unexpectedly at the age of 40 from sudden arrhythmic death syndrome.
It was then a few weeks later in May he suffered his own heart attack.
Today, in her only interview about the ordeal, Jasmine reveals Jon is now thankfully on the mend but she confides the worrying encounter has made her completely reassess her life – especially after losing several close pals, including fellow A Place In The Sun presenter Jonnie Irwin.
Jonnie tragically lost his battle with cancer in February 2024 at the age of 50. As well as Jon’s sister, the couple have also been coming to terms with the death of Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers, who also died last year.
Jon worked closely with Dave for years, and earlier in the renovation series, his widow Lili was filmed visiting the couple’s project.
Jasmine – who turns 50 this week – exclusively tells the Mirror : “Jon is fine now and he is back working.
“I know this sounds strange but even with the background of what could have happened and worrying he could have died; it makes you feel lucky he just had a mild heart attack and everything is fine.
“But the challenges life throws at you has made me take things in my stride a lot better than I used to.”
Jon’s heart attack is the main reason why, she goes on to admit, the renovation project was so tough.
Indeed, before the launch of her new series, she hinted it had turned into a ‘nightmare’ – but kept details of why private until now.
