In his first major role since winning Best Actor at the 2026 Academy Awards, Jordan voices Ollie, a small forest creature who undergoes a chaotic body-swap with Ivy. While Jordan lends his powerful vocals to Swapped, he is no stranger to the medium, having previously lent his voice to animated projects like The Boondocks and Love, Death & Robots.

“I love animation and voice acting. I’ve done it before, so doing a full-length animated film with my own voice was really exciting,” Jordan shared at the premiere of Swapped. “You have to build it piece by piece, step by step. It’s a completely different style because we all recorded our tracks individually.”

Jordan also heaped praise on the “brilliant” director and the production team for bringing such a wonderful piece of work together.

Temple voices Ivy, a noble bird who unwittingly trades places with Ollie. In a video shared to the Netflix Family Instagram account, the actress reflected on how the role profoundly affected her worldview.

“Playing Ivy truly changed the way I look at nature and the connection between all of us,” Temple shared. “For me, the movie really drives home the idea that when we take the time to understand how another creature lives—why they do what they do, what they eat, and where they live—we instantly empathize with them. I hope the film inspires audiences as much as it inspired me.”

03 of 08: Tracy Morgan as Boogle

Morgan lends his signature comedic energy to Boogle the fish. Joining the cast of this children’s animated film turned out to be a special family affair for the actor, as his 12-year-old daughter, Maven Sonae Morgan, also voices a character in the movie.

“She’s my absolute favorite co-star,” Morgan told Ebony magazine. “She wanted to be a part of it, so I asked the producers, and they graciously agreed. They gave her a cameo right toward the end of the film.”

“She’s been watching me work since she was three years old, so she already knows the ropes when it comes to acting,” Morgan added proudly of his daughter, who plays a pinecone hedgehog. “She understands that preparation is everything and she takes direction beautifully.”

Cedric the Entertainer, one of the original “Kings of Comedy,” voices Caloo, the father of Jordan’s character, Ollie. Cedric described the narrative core of Swapped as “wonderful,” highlighting how it explores the profound concept of stepping into someone else’s life.

“What is it like to swap places with someone else, walk in their shoes for a moment, dream, imagine, and grow bigger?” Cedric shared with WUSA9. “How do you motivate those around you who might feel stuck, helping them see life differently through your eyes so you can become a catalyst for new energy across your entire community? There are some deeply profound lessons mixed in with all the fun.”

05 of 08: Justina Machado as Calli

The character of Calli is brought to life by Machado, beloved star of One Day at a Time and Six Feet Under. She described working on Swapped as an incredibly rewarding process.

“I think animation teaches you so many beautiful things as a performer,” she told ComingSoon.net. “And then there’s the music—for me, it’s just pure magic. That’s why I love it. It’s so exciting to hear your own voice coming out of these beautifully animated characters.”

The actress added, “Watching how the animators blow life into the characters and how they match it to your vocal performance is just thrilling to witness.”

British actress Ambika Mod voices a bird named Violet. Mod is widely recognized for her standout performances in acclaimed series such as One DayThis Is Going to Hurt, and the film Black Bag.

When asked why the avian characters in Swapped feature distinct British accents, director Nathan Greno explained it was born out of their desire to cast Juno Temple.

“When we started discussing expanding the flock of birds in the movie, we thought, ‘Why should Ivy be the only one with that distinct regional accent? Can we lean into that?’ The entire creative choice really blossomed from wanting to build a world around Juno,” Greno shared with Animation World Network.
