It’s almost impossible to picture Stacey Solomon with anyone other than her husband Joe Swash — but before she became Mrs Solomon-Swash, the Sort Your Life Out star had a whirlwind romance that left fans stunned.
Stacey, 35, and Joe have been inseparable since getting together in 2015, and tonight they even launch their new fly-on-the-wall reality show. But the dad-of-five is not the only celebrity the mum-of-five has dated.
Years earlier, Stacey found herself in an unlikely relationship with Jackass star Steve-O — a pairing that few saw coming.
The Dagenham-born singer and former X Factor finalist was 25 when she began dating the American stunt performer, then 40, after the pair met on Channel 4’s The Jump in 2015. Steve-O, whose real name is Stephen Glover, was also a contestant on the show.
At the time, Stacey was busy preparing to release her debut album Shy and tried to keep the romance under wraps.
She told the Mirror: “I have no idea how it happened! I get embarrassed talking about it. We’re just seeing how it goes at the moment.”
But Steve-O was far from shy about his feelings.
He publicly declared himself “smitten” and couldn’t hide his excitement when flying to the UK to visit Stacey — who was then a mum-of-two — for a romantic trip to Cornwall.
Just before landing at Heathrow, he tweeted: “About to get off this plane and see my sweetheart! Woohoo!!! #yeahbabe”.
He had also written days earlier: “Less than two days until I’m on a plane headed to see my sweetheart! @StaceySolomon Woohoo!!!”
The stunt star even posted a photo of himself kissing a smiling Stacey, captioning it: “Having a wonderful time with my sweetheart @staceysolomon #yeahbabe.”
But the fairy-tale didn’t last long.
Only a few months later, the romance came to an abrupt end — with Steve-O later revealing the painful truth behind the split in his memoir A Hard Kick In The Nuts.
Despite admitting he had been “smitten”, he confessed that he suddenly walked away after becoming deeply embedded in Stacey’s life.
“I lavished her with attention, I got what I wanted and then I broke it off,” he wrote. “I’d become not only part of her life, but also her kids’ lives too. And then — poof — I was gone.”
The performer, who has spoken openly about battling sex addiction in the past, admitted that he had a destructive pattern in relationships.
“I’d meet some woman, pour on the charm to convince her I really cared about her — which I invariably thought I did — sleep with her a few times, then lose interest and ghost,” he revealed.
Yet years later, Steve-O said he still feels haunted by how things ended with Stacey.
“To this day, I still beat myself up about the way it went down,” he admitted, adding that Stacey would be completely “justified” to feel hurt — though he believes she harbours “no ill toward” him and remains a “happy person” who doesn’t hold grudges.
Thankfully, Stacey soon found lasting happiness with Joe Swash — and today, their loved-up family life couldn’t be further removed from the heartbreak of her past.
