Sharon Osbourne has broken her silence on her daughter Kelly’s dramatic weight loss, explaining that the heartbreak and grief following Ozzy Osbourne’s death left Kelly struggling to eat. In her first full television interview since Ozzy’s passing in July, Sharon appeared on her longtime friend Piers Morgan’s Uncensored programme, which premiered on YouTube on Wednesday. The conversation was wide-ranging and emotional, weaving together Kelly’s current struggles, the impact of public scrutiny, and the devastating final moments of Ozzy’s life.

Sharon did not shy away from acknowledging the grief that has enveloped her family. She confirmed that Kelly has “of course been unhappy” since her father’s death, a loss that shook every part of their lives. Kelly had already been candid about her extraordinary 85-pound postpartum weight loss and had repeatedly denied rumours that she’d used Ozempic, a claim trolls continued to lob at her even as she mourned her father. On Tuesday, Kelly appeared at a baking event at Fortnum & Mason, her noticeably slender frame reigniting chatter about her health.
Piers played a video Kelly had shared online, in which she confronted trolls directly. In the clip, Kelly speaks with a mix of exhaustion and fire. “To the people who keep thinking they’re being funny and mean by writing comments like ‘Are you ill?’ or ‘Get off Ozempic,’ you don’t look right,” she said with clear frustration. “My dad just died, and I’m doing the best that I can, and the only thing I have to live for right now is my family. And I choose to share my content with you, to show the happy side of my life, not the miserable side. So to all those people — f*** off.”
Sharon’s reaction was immediate and deeply maternal. “She’s right,” Sharon said softly, but with conviction. “And if she’s happy that she can’t eat… well, she’s not happy. She’s lost her daddy. She can’t eat right now.” Sharon acknowledged that grief manifests in countless ways, and for Kelly, it has meant a painful loss of appetite. Sharon went on to describe the psychological strain trolling places on the family. “It’s a shield for people who are unhappy,” she said. “It comes from jealousy, from people’s perception of someone else. I just feel sorry for people — something is wrong in their lives. They’re not happy.”

Kelly has previously explained that her weight loss came rapidly once she cut out sugar and carbohydrates after developing gestational diabetes during pregnancy. She insisted she did not use Ozempic, despite the persistent rumour. “I had to lose the weight I gained during pregnancy because I was at a higher risk of getting diabetes, and I did not want that,” she explained in an earlier interview. Sharon added that Kelly’s resolve has often been misunderstood or misrepresented by outsiders eager to draw conclusions.
But the interview took an even more emotional turn when Sharon shared, for the first time, the devastating details of Ozzy’s final day. The Black Sabbath legend died of heart failure at his Buckinghamshire home on July 22 — a mere two weeks after performing a final farewell concert with his bandmates at Birmingham’s Villa Park. It was a performance Ozzy insisted on doing, even after doctors warned him that taking the stage could be too much for his body.
Sharon recounted how Ozzy had been restless through the night before his death, going back and forth to the bathroom. Around 4:30 a.m., he gently woke her again, telling her, “Wake up,” to which she responded that she already was. Then, with a tenderness that now pierces through memory, he said to her, “Kiss me. Hug me tight.” She held him, unaware that these words would soon become his last to her.
Twenty minutes later, he went downstairs to the gym — determined to complete his usual early morning workout despite his declining health. He had endured pneumonia, sepsis, and the lingering effects of a serious fall in 2019. But exercise was always part of his routine. Sharon recalled hearing shouting and immediately running to the gym, where Ozzy was slumped over as others tried desperately to resuscitate him.

“He had a heart attack,” Sharon said quietly. “I ran downstairs, and there he was, and they were trying to resuscitate him, and I’m like, ‘Don’t — just leave him. Leave him. You can’t. He’s gone.’ I knew instantly he’d gone.” Even after Ozzy was airlifted to the hospital, Sharon said she knew their efforts would not bring him back. “They tried and tried… it’s like, ‘He’s gone. Just leave him.’”
Sharon also shared that Ozzy sensed the end was near. A doctor had warned him that he would not survive if he attempted the final planned show, but Ozzy insisted he had to do it. Performing was woven into his identity, and he chose to push forward, even if doing so hastened his decline. Sharon said she understood that decision, even if it meant saying goodbye sooner than she ever wanted.
Now widowed after decades of marriage, Sharon insisted she will never remarry. “That’s it for now,” she said, her voice breaking. The grief is still fresh and sharp. She admitted she is still trying to “find her footing,” navigating a life that feels fundamentally altered.
In the weeks following Ozzy’s passing, both Sharon and Kelly posted emotional tributes on what would have been his 77th birthday. Sharon shared never-before-seen photos, writing, “My darling husband, I celebrate the day you were born. I will never let go of your hand until I see you on the other side.” She also shared a video of a floral tribute in Birmingham, accompanied by Ozzy’s song See You on the Other Side. A note from four of his six children — Louis, Aimee, Kelly and Jack — read, “We love you, Daddy.”

Kelly’s tribute was equally heartbreaking. “Happy birthday. I miss you, Daddy. I love you more than life itself,” she wrote, posting childhood photos of herself with Ozzy. Visiting the floral display in Birmingham, she added another message: “Life without you is hard, but not a day goes by that I don’t dedicate my life to loving you and your legacy… I miss you more than anything in the world. What I would not give to watch you blow out just one more candle.”
Ozzy’s long health struggles — the fall, the infections, the surgeries — had slowly taken their toll over the years, but his death still struck with a force that left the family reeling. Sharon expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming support she has received from fans around the world. “I’ve been carried through,” she said, acknowledging how much the public’s love had meant to her as she grieved a man she often said she lived for.
