Helen Mirren has broken her silence amid reports of tension on the set of MobLand.
The Oscar-winning actress shared a photo of Tom Hardy on her Instagram account on Thursday with text over the Revenant starâs face reading, âLove you now and always helen.â
Mirrenâs post comes amid multiple reports of behind-the-scenes drama on the Paramount+ show in which Hardy portrays a fixer for a London crime family headed by Mirrenâs character.
Puck initially reported that Hardy had been fired from MobLand following the completion of its second season, which has yet to debut on Paramount+. A source close to production later claimed that Hardy ârefused to come out of his trailer for hours at a timeâ in a statement to THR.
However, Variety reported Thursday that Hardy âwas not firedâ and that âthe door is not closed for season 3 and things are being worked through creatively,â citing a source close to production.
That same report addressed rumors of tension between Hardy and Mirren, with a source claiming that although Hardyâs alleged tardiness was âfrustratingâ for the Thursday Murder Club star, there is no notable animosity between the two actors.
âI know sheâs said to him a couple of times, âCome on, Tom, weâve been here for ages, letâs get on with it,â but sheâs never appeared to be anti-Tom,â the source told the outlet.
Another source close to the production denied any notion that the two performers could have acted unprofessionally over political disagreements. âHelen is not that sort of person,â the source alleged to Variety.
âIf she had a problem with Tom, she would have said to his face, âLook come on, letâs just stop wasting everyone elseâs time and letâs get on with it.â But thatâs probably as far as it went. Sheâs not the sort of person whoâs going to get involved in a whole political situation. She just isnât. She certainly isnât going to be one who stamps her feet and says âWell, Iâm not coming back if heâs in it.â Itâs just not her.â
Entertainment Weekly has reached out to representatives for Hardy, Mirren, Paramount, and production company 101 Studios for comment on the reports.
The Daily Mail previously reported that Mirren was upset by Hardyâs lateness in December. Two days later, Mirren shared a similarly supportive post about Hardy on Instagram.
âThings I love,â she wrote before noting her affection for âTom Hardy for his brilliance on screenâ and âhis dedication off screenâ as well as âhis good heartâ and âespecially the HardyHugs I get when onset with him which is not nearly enough in my opinion.â
In the same post, Mirren cheekily listed âbad journalismâ in the category of things she hates.
