After months of speculation, endless fan theories, and growing anticipation, exciting new details about Bridgerton Season 5 are sending the fandom into a frenzy đ±đ.
Bridgerton season 5: confirmed release window, new cast and everything we know about the Netflix showâs return
tâs Franchelaâs time to shine, baby
Bridgerton season 5 has officially started production, and everything I want to happen in the hit Netflix show is set to come true.
After John Stirlingâs (Victor Alli) untimely death in season 4, the stage was set for his widow Francesca Bridgerton (Hannah Dodd) and cousin Michaela Stirling (Masali Baduza) to fall head over heels for each other⊠and itâs happening sooner rather than later.
Yes, the pair are officially our season 5 romantic leads, beating out fan favorite Eloise (Claudia Jessie) to shine in the spotlight. It also marks the first LGBTQIA+ couple in the series and, frankly, even the thought makes my heart soar.
The girls are ready to be LGBT icons, but what do we actually know about Bridgerton season 5 so far?

As of March 2026, Bridgerton season 5 has only just gone into production, but according to Netflix, it will definitely be released in 2027.
This will mark the first time in the showâs history that two consecutive seasons will premiere in consecutive calendar years.

Itâs incredibly early days, so the above story announcement is your lot for now (although that has me excited enough).

Obviously Hannah Dodd and Masali Baduza will be fronting Bridgerton season 5, but hereâs who else we can expect to return:
Yerin Ha as Sophie Baek
Luke Thompson as Benedict Bridgerton
Julie Andrews as Lady Whistledown
Lorraine Ashbourne as Mrs. Varley
Nicola Coughlan as Penelope Bridgerton
Daniel Francis as Lord Marcus Anderson
Ruth Gemmell as Violet Bridgerton
Florence Hunt as Hyacinth Bridgerton
Martins Imhangbe as Will Mondrich
Claudia Jessie as Eloise Bridgerton
Katie Leung as Lady Araminta Gun
Luke Newton as Colin Bridgerton
Michelle Mao as Rosamund Li
Emma Naomi as Alice Mondrich
Golda Rosheuvel as Queen Charlotte
Hugh Sachs as Brimsley
Will Tilston as Gregory Bridgerton
Polly Walker as Portia Featherington
Isabella Wei as Posy Li
Tega Alexander as Christopher Anderson
Jacqueline Boatswain as Helen Stirling
Gemma Knight Jones as Lady Elizabeth Ashworth
As you can see, Iâve left a few key names out of this list. For obvious reasons (ie his character is dead), Victor Alli, who plays John Stirling, will not be returning.
Itâs also not a given that Jonathan Bailey (Anthony Bridgerton) and Simone Ashley (Kate Bridgerton) will return either, as their appearance in season 4 part 2 was a cameo.
Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh) has taken her leave of Queen Charlotteâs palace as of the season 4 finale, meaning her return also isnât guaranteed.

Hereâs everything we know about our new faces so far:
Christopher Anderson: a Regency-era Casanova who could give the Bridgerton bachelors a run for their money. Yet behind his cheeky facade lies a current of self-doubt that threatens to unravel him. The son of Lord Anderson will make his mark on society, one way or another.
Helen Stirling: Michaelaâs mother and the very source of her spirit. Like any mama, she seeks to guide â and occasionally push â her daughter through Londonâs social season, with equal measures vivaciousness and tough love.
Lady Elizabeth Ashworth: Elizabeth is an old friend of Michaelaâs who serves as her confidante and London guide. Beneath Elizabethâs playful charm lies a grounded realist who is wise to the unspoken rules of society.

Spoilers for Bridgerton season 4 to follow.
Obviously, weâre leading with the Francesca-Michaela romance, with season 5 supposedly kicking off with a two year time jump after Sophie and Benedictâs wedding in the season 4 finale.
You might also remember that Michaela fled London without so much as saying goodbye⊠so the fact that she returns out of the blue after so much time is bound to have Francesca reeling.
âWhatâs most exciting about Season 5 is that it is going to be a season about queer joy. It is not going to be a season about queer trauma,â showrunner Jess Brownell told Netflix.
âThere are going to be difficulties for the characters and conflict the same way there is for every Bridgerton character. But we are still always grounding our love stories in the fact that this series is about joy.â
Other characters, such as Eloise, seemingly now have no direction at all, given she was the fan favorite to take over as romantic lead (fingers crossed for season 6 eh?)
We also need to find out who the new Lady Whistledown is, though this isnât a guarantee either.
Will there be more seasons of Bridgerton?

These two still havenât had their time to shine. (Image credit: Netflix)
While Bridgerton has been renewed for seasons 5 and 6, Brownell is ultimately working with a plan for 8 seasons in total â one for each Bridgerton child.
When I asked her about potential spinoffs following Violetâs journey in season 4 part 2, Brownell answers, âI would watch the hell out of it. I leave spin off territory to Shonda [Rimes]. Iâm focused on trying to get through eight seasons of Bridgerton. But, yeah, Iâd love that.â
So while seasons 7 and 8 havenât been officially confirmed, theyâre being worked on⊠and unless something goes badly wrong between now and then, I donât see why they wouldnât come to light.
