Griffin said O’Donnell, her longtime friend, previously told her that cosmetic surgery was “a phony look” for the comedian.

Comedian Kathy Griffin is breaking down friend Rosie O’Donnell‘s headline-making facelift — all because, as the star said, O’Donnell used to give her “so much s—” for getting cosmetic procedures.
The comedian opened up about her friendship with O’Donnell on the latest episode of her Talk Your Head Off YouTube series (below), in which she noted that her “dear, dear friend” was often critical of her enhanced appearance in the past.
“Every time I’ve had work done, whatever it’s been, face, or, I don’t know, eyelids, or whatever I’ve had done, she just gives me so much s—, so much crap!” Griffin said, before mimicking O’Donnell’s voice as she said, “What are they gonna do? You’ve already lifted it up enough. People don’t go to see your stand-up to see your face, they go to hear your jokes, they want to hear your stories.”

She also said that O’Donnell told her it was “a phony look” for her at the time.
“Years of this. Then, sure enough, she reveals that she got a facelift and she looks amazing, and she doesn’t look like she got a facelift,” Griffin said. “I call it a little yank. I texted her last night!”
Griffin then brought out her phone and read what she said was a text message sent directly to O’Donnell.
“I wrote, ‘You little devil! When I think of all the s— you gave me about getting my face work. I love it, I think you look f—ing fantastic. I hope you’re proud of yourself. All my friends want to know who your surgeon is, and they want to go to that surgeon.”
Griffin then showed her audience before-and-after photos of O’Donnell’s facelift, adding, “She just looks so pretty and natural. Good job, doc!”
Entertainment Weekly has reached out to O’Donnell’s representatives for comment.
Upon announcing her facelift, O’Donnell, 64, revealed that she “assigned myself as head of all women who would never” get such a procedure, and said she was initially “morally” opposed to doing it.
O’Donnell’s former TV home, The View, included a recent segment about the procedure, with current cohost Sunny Hostin admitting that she was “surprised that someone as strong and funny and interesting as Rosie equated having work done to being anti-feminist.”
