Filming for This City Is Ours was plunged into chaos after being struck by Spanish criminals â as the crew were robbed by filming in Marbella.
The thieves ransacked an apartment being used by one of the production team near the tourist hotspot, where the gritty BBC drama is currently filming.
The crew member had their personal belongings stolen while filming took place last month, ahead of the second series release next year.
A source told the Daily Star: âIt was certainly the talk of the town.
âIt was a shock that, as shooting for a major crime show was happening, one of those working on it also became a victim of crime. The irony was not lost on anyone.â
BBC drama This City Is Ours stars Sean Bean as gangster Ronnie Phelan and his family and their murky world of drugs trafficking.

James Nelson-Joyce, who plays leading gang member Michael Kavanagh, will be back for the second series as it returns to the BBC
While Sean, 66, was killed off at the end of series one, it was teased that bosses are hoping to see him make a return in the form of a flashback episode.
Earlier this year, an insider told The Mirror: âThe shape of season two is up in the air, but one thought is that Sean Bean will return as Ronnie in an episode about his backstory.â
The new series will see the return of Julie Graham as matriarch  Elaine Phelan and James Nelson-Joyce, who plays leading gang member Michael Kavanagh.
Hannah Onslow will also return to the show as Michaelâs partner Diana Williams.
The first series of the drama proved a itself a hit with viewers when it first aired back in March, pulling in six million viewers with the drama shooting to the top of the BBCâs most-watched drama list.
It was packed with a number of steamy scenes, which both wowed and shocked viewers â but the seriesâ debut wasnât without its complaints.
In the first five minutes of the seriesâ debut episode, it launched into a saucy moment between Michael Kavanagh (James Nelson-Joyce) and Diana Williams (Hannah Onslow).
Delving into the coupleâs relationship, the gritty drama series follows the pairâs highs and lows as Michael balances his crumbling criminal career.

The tense drama also starred Kevin Harvey and Laura Aikman
In one of the first scenes of the instalment, the gangster is shown in a family planning clinic and is taken to a room to give a sperm sample.
As soon as the door closes, he calls Diana, who is at a bar and asks if she can âgive him some assistanceâ.
âSome words of encouragement, seeing as we are in this together,â he adds.
Diana moves into an empty room and says, âIn that case, seeing as we are in this together, what if I joined you â so to speak?â
Michael replies, âAre you serious?â
The pair then engage in a steamy exchange over the phone and the scene ends with Michael placing his sample into a hatch.
However, after the first instalment aired many viewers shared a similar complaint about the sound quality.
One posted on X: âWhat does a sound engineer do? Not very much, if this is an example of their work.â
Another described it as âpoorâ and said: âIâm having to zoom the volume up and down all the time, is it my TV, my hearing, or just poor sound editing and muffled dialogue?â

Fans were disappointed in the first series, which also starred Derry Girlsâ Saiorse Monica Jackson and Stephen Walters, when it was released
While someone else commented: âFed up already with turning the sound on the TV up and down.â
A fourth penned: â#thiscityisours is promising but they need to knock the soundtrack down a bit, canât hear whatâs being said sometime!â
Fans were mostly left livid to see Sean Bean killed off in a âmadâ murder scene.
Towards the end of the second episode, Seanâs character Ronnie relaxes outside on a sunbed in his Spanish villa and things soon take a turn.
Michael takes a knife from the kitchen drawer when Diana catches him, she attempts to talk her partner out of it.
But Michael is convinced heâll be discarded in favour of Ronnieâs son, ignores Dianaâs pleas and murders the drug boss, marking the end of Seanâs brief appearance in the series.
Sean has seen several of his TV characters killed off previously and fans were quick to complain about his swift departure in this series.
One posted on X:Â âI canât keep watching Sean Bean DIE,â as another penned: âWell as normal Sean Bean didnât last long.â
Someone else wrote: âThe great Sean Bean, legend of big and small screen deserves better than this absolute drivel,â while a fourth joked: âPerhaps he can only manage 30 minutes of acting per programmeâŠâ
