It’s officially time to mark your calendars, Dark Winds fans. The acclaimed AMC noir thriller is bringing its thrilling fourth season to Netflix US in its entirety on July 4th, 2026, following its international rollout earlier this year.
Since Netflix picked up the streaming rights to Dark Winds as part of a sweeping agreement with AMC Networks, the Tony Hillerman adaptation has been an absolute juggernaut on the platform.
According to Netflix’s engagement metrics spanning June 2024 to December 2025, the series pulled in an impressive 37.5 million views (176.6 million viewing hours). Among the massive batch of AMC titles leased to the streamer, Dark Winds has consistently been one of the most-watched, surpassing heavy-hitters like A Discovery of Witches and Mayfair Witches to sit right behind Breaking Bad in daily average views.
When is Season 4 of Dark Winds coming to Netflix?
Dark Winds Season 4 recently wrapped its run on AMC and AMC+, airing from February 15th through April 5th, 2026. The eight-episode fourth season expanded the scope of the show, taking Lt. Joe Leaphorn (Zahn McClarnon), Jim Chee (Kiowa Gordon), and Bernadette Manuelito (Jessica Matten) from the Navajo Nation all the way to 1970s Los Angeles. The new season features the team hunting for a missing Navajo teen and puts them in the crosshairs of an organized crime network.

The release date is welcome news, given that a number of AMC shows have departed Netflix in recent months.
Note for international viewers: Following the pattern of previous international rollouts, Latin American regions and select European territories (including the Netherlands) already picked up Season 4 beginning on April 5th, 2026, timing out perfectly with the broadcast finale.
Season 5 is Currently Filming in New Mexico
You won’t have to worry about the show ending with Season 4, either. AMC knew they had a massive hit on their hands and officially renewed Dark Winds for a fifth season back in February, before Season 4 had even premiered. Filming for the new batch of episodes officially got underway on March 16th, 2026 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and is scheduled to run through June 2026.
Season 5 is expected to consist of another eight hour-long episodes and is slated to debut on AMC in 2027. Whether it arrives on Netflix US or any other regions is currently unclear.
