Meet Scott Mills’ husband 16 years his junior as pair spotted for first time since BBC sacking
Scott Mills has had his BBC contract terminated following a personal conduct allegation – and has now been spotted in public with his partner Sam Vaughan, who is 16 years Mills’ junior
Radio presenter Scott Mills has been seen in public for the first time since his sacking from the BBC – and he was joined by his partner, Sam Vaughan.
Sam, who is 16 years younger than Mills, donned a tan bomber jacket and a pair of shades while he walked his dog near their home in Hertfordshire. The pair married in 2024 and they appeared together in Celebrity Race Across the World in 2024 – and still remain closer than ever despite Mills’ sacking.
The broadcaster was axe from his role at BBC Radio 2 after historical allegations regarding his behaviour came to light. It was revealed that the allegation was made relating to his personal conduct and it is understood that the BBC sacked Mills after it learned that the reported victim of a police investigation he was involved in was 16.
The relationship
Scott tied the knot with his husband Sam in 2024, with the pair saying ‘I do’ during a cosy Spanish ceremony in June of that year. A host of celebrities were in attendance at the wedding, including Rylan, Pixie Lott, Calvin Harris and Joel Corry.
Sam hails from Wales and first crossed paths with Scott at an event where the radio presenter was DJing back in the summer of 2016. However, despite their blissful marriage now, a long-term commitment wasn’t always on the cards.
Sam, who was 35 when they wed in 2024 and 16 years Scott’s junior, had previously been candid about his hesitations.
Scott, who often made trips to Wales while Sam would travel to London, told The Times in 2023: “We began texting, then did the whole Gavin and Stacey thing, with me travelling to Wales or him to London. The more time we spent together, the more I could see we were right for each other. I just needed him to see that too.
“So when we had the conversation about taking it forward and he said ‘I’m not ready’, I was devastated. If it wasn’t going to happen, then I needed a clean break. Being friends with someone you’re in love with doesn’t work. We didn’t speak for six months.
“My mum came to stay because I was in bits, sitting on the sofa crying, eating ice cream.”
Despite this setback, three months before the first lockdown, the pair moved in together, with Scott popping the question two years later.
The duo appeared on Celebrity Race Across the World in 2024, where Scott was awkwardly mistaken for his husband’s father.
